Richards would never stay in position for us.

Lil' Lee is good.

Rosenior jnr is/ was good n'all but hasn't done much of that sort of thing since coaching at Derby.

The Beeb's coverage looks poor any time they don't have Kilnsmann or Fabregas.  Linekarse's bland and dreary tone needs to be counterbalanced with someone a bit more animated.  Not cartoon buffoon animated like Richards, but like the former two or Desailly.

Lineker is also increasingly looking like a sex tourist with that 'beard.'

I'm seriously considering not paying the licence fee next year just because of his offensive facial fuzz.

He's looking like his brother, which is a bad thing.

During punditry, I turn the sound off, make a drink, go to the loo or scan these pages. Anything to avoid the inane drivel.

I think the thing the worst pundits have in common is lack of command of language.  Jenas is a typical case in point.  Richards does not even get to the starting line his gabbling buffoonery is so full on.  What they do is assemble a swatch of cliches that they can cobble together as though the contemporaneousness of their utterances makes them insightful.  It does not.  It simply proves that "sick as a parrot" and "over the moon" are the well from which they draw their inspiration.  I like Lee Hendrie as a pundit because he is so devoid of pretence.

Quite right Brian. There's nothing wrong with a regional accent either, so it's not snobbery like that.  But all pundits should have a certain amount of intelligence, offer some valuable insights from their playing days, and just be engaging and able to string a coherent sentence together. People like Jenas and Murphy fall down on all of these criteria.

On the Radio I quite like Stuart Pearce. He's good, without going too OTT.

I’ve come to realise that the level of punditry is always going to be skin deep as they have limited time in which to shed any insight so I just ignore it now. And to be honest most of us having just watched the game can see for ourselves what happened.

If you compare the analysis of football pundits to cricket ones it’s astonishing how much more knowledgable and lucid they are by comparison.  I know they were probably better educated but they have detailed insightful analysis.

By the way it’s getting worse now.  Jenas is now presenting The One Show.

Just wait till he's presenting MOTD. You'll get more gems like this...

Quote from: JJ
Jermaine Jenas on commentary: “Sancho and Walker have a great understanding from their time together at Manchester City in training.”

Sancho left Manchester City on 31st August 2017. Walker joined 14th July 2017. Must have been one intense 6 weeks together 4 years ago.

If he slaps his knees once more time before saying something to his panel of pundits that for whatever reason he's not fully confident of, I'm gonna scream. Seriously, watch out for it. It must be some sort of coping-mechanism thing.

When they decide to "freshen things up". He's already doing MOTDx and probably why they've been giving him presenting gigs on The One Show similar to readying Alex Scott for Football Focus.

The numpty who was commentating for ITV on Czech Republic v Denmark was unbearable.
He's obviously got prepared info on each player that he crowbars into the commentary no matter what.

At one point in the 1st half after he'd droned on for a couple of minutes Ally McCoist just said: "Yeh" in a weary and clearly disinterested way as if to say "Wtf? Just shut up you boring arse."

Why do all modern commentators have an irresistible urge to fill every second of play with their words of wisdom.
