Currently battling the North Circular, having spent forty odd minutes passing every Arsenal pub in Wembley, so i'm not in a great fram of mind to comment. But basically, I'm glad it's over. Glad Lerner is fucking off, glad I never have to see some of those players again, glad I can burn this shit Dafabet shirt, glad I can have a break from football and glad I realise we won't win this cup again and even if we reach a Final, i won't bother going, because it'll be fucking shit.

Well that was good, you fucking bottling arseholes

that is unfair in my opinion. Their 2nd goal was a wonder goal, how does that equate to bottling it? Arsenal have better players and we had tactics wrong like leaving GA on the bench.

Good grief, I should stay off whatever it is you are taking if you think we didn't bottle it and leaving that useless lump on the bench was the 'wrong tactics'. Are you deliberately on the wind up?

You're kidding.

If anything 4-0 flattered us.
7-0 wouldn't have been unfair, we were absolute garbage in every department except goalkeeper.

I can only imagine all my old mates and family stretched across London going home.
We deserve better
we were embarrassingly poor, heads down, Tim has to  spend big time, keep Delph, Benkeke. Clevely. the rest can fuck off

well so we stayed up by skin of the teeth and got a drubbing today. no shame in the performance though, we were just beaten by a better team. nice moment was Prince William's face after they went 3-0 up?

you have to cling to small things when you get a beating so at least the future king of England supports Aston Villa.

UP THE VILLA

No, no shame in the performance at all, goodness me, how could anyone think that?

quite possibly because the tactics were wrong and they have better players and also a manager who has won a lot of trophies? and we finished 4th from bottom against perennial champions league opposition. oh and also because for the first 30 odd  minutes Villa defended well. so no shame in the performance in my opinion. they were just better although 4-0 takes the piss.

If we had held on until half time it may have been different (full straw clutching mode).

It was embarrassing today. Our players gave us nothing to take from the game. Yes Arsenal are good but we still should have done more. Sad to say it but i'm actually glad i couldn't find a ticket for that even though i tried hard to get one.

And a big piece of that is the manager. Lambert accepted mediocrity and failure. I'm hoping Sherwood buys players be it with Lerner's money or a new bloke that never do.
For however long he is manager, do you envisage Sherwood signing a player as good as Benteke?

Sherwood is pretty good at setting teams up but a little weak at reacting - and today he didn't set them up right, not in terms of personnel but just strategy. Were we meant to press or sit deep in defence? The midfield thought we were doing the former, the defence the latter, so in the end there was a massive gap for Ozil and Alexis to just stand in and do what they wanted.

That said, we shouldn't forget that Arsenal are better than us in practically every way, in terms of football. Money, players, manager, coaches, scouting - there's no comparison. The overhaul isn't needed because of this result, or even the performance - it's needed because we finished 17th in the league.

Defended well?  We rode our luck from the 3rd or 4th minute.  We got lucky.  Lucky it wasn't 7.

Shocking. I feel sorry for Guzan, would have been much better at dealing with the first three goals, and Gabby who did more in his brief cameo than anyone else.

Wouldn't mind us quickly moving to bring in Charlie Austin, Neil Taylor and Steven Caulker (saw all three names mentioned, Caulker's name seemed to be mentioned negatively but I like him). Clevs from the last three games I wouldn't want, but he was good before that. We need to rebuild this team into a hard-working unit, instead of relying on one star man who can't be bothered most of the time.

Indeed.

Arsenal have better players than most teams, but plenty of those teams manage not to roll over and let them fuck them. I'm not annoyed at losing. I'm annoyed at us being so pathetic and not managing a shot on target.

Clearly you're a much better fan than me and a far better judge of a Villa performance. And for that reason I'm out.

Given was at fault for three of their four goals. He is as much to blame for today as anybody.
