Awful and embarrasssing. We left at half time with many other Villa fans.

So that's three-and-a-half times you've seen the Villa this season, Richard. I'd stick to Saturday afternoon shopping in Chichester with your wife and daughters if I were you.

...or watching rugby.

It's already been said but we may need a complete new defence, plus a keeper for next season. I think we've seen enough of those who didn't play today to realise that it's an area for concern. There's a lack of pace and they all have entries in the catalogue of unforced errors over the past seasons.
I think the mad 3 minutes shell shocked them all but notwithstanding the awful result, at least Sherwood has brought back hope and entertainment for which I am grateful.

It was noticeable that some of the most vocal fans who seemed more interested in goading the home fans were the first to desert at 3 and 4 down.

We were fucking awful today. Fortunately it doesn't matter and hopefully we can learn a big lesson. No complacency from now on.

I thought the Southampton fans were good value for their witty retorts today. I particularly liked their half-time chants of: 'richard, richard moore; you depart when you're down by four.

I see Delph has apologized as well as tekkers. Delph looked pretty gutted. Good lad.

I said the other day I wasn't bothered if vlaar stayed. Even more so now I hope he goes, he was slow and fucking useless. Sherwood can't be blamed for the defensive calamity but Given is finished. Get rid of most of the defence, we stated with a high line, why the fuck did we stick with it. Only positive is that we're safe. Please please don't do that shit in the final x

Whilst I agree, Vlaar is too slow and unpredictable (and permanently injured), and our defence in general looks poor, I struggle to totally absolve Sherwood of blame for the high line thing.

Surely it isn't something the players just decided on themselves?

At the end he just stood and applauded our support for ages in a 'I could stand here forever and clap at how brilliant you lot are and it still wouldn't be long enough' kind of way.

After the game I felt really calm, like the disaster I'd been waiting for had happened and it wasn't the end. A weird calmness descended on me. I didn't quite expect everything to turn out alright so quickly, but by the end of the game, I felt alright. People around me were smiling, like we already knew. It was an odd thing.

I thought we looked like a March MON team, tired and fatigued. Maybe not surprising TS has got a lot of high energy performances out of them over the last couple of months and has recently played the same players.

We have 2 weeks to get the team, defence and fitness sorted out, the Burnley game is irrelevant except to be used as part of the build up to Wembley.

We are safe and have a cup final to look forward too.

I thought there were signs of that in the second half against West Ham last week.  I don't think there is any need to panic and hopefully it was just a freak result.  I think talk of a whole new back four and keeper is a little unrealistic, but a new CB and LB must rank pretty highly.
