Great day's cricket. As far as I could see, and I was behind the wicket for the whole day, there was no swing and negligible movement off the seam. There was however, uneven bounce. Quite how we managed to make their opening bowlers Berg and Tomlinson appear like Lilley and Thomson will forever remain a mystery to me.

The Hampshire supporters I spoke to reckoned their seamers are handy with the new ball but very ineffectual once the shine had gone.

Rikki Clark and Barker were having heavy verbals with Carberry. Quite amusing to watch with binoculars.

As is often the case until mid summer, the pavilion end was like a wind tunnel/fridge while the city end was bathed in sunshine. In mid afternoon I counted around 30 members outside the Tom Dollery Suite; the rest were inside.

Decent morning session for the Bears. Highlight was yet another outrageously spectacular catch in the slips by Rikki Clarke off the bowling of Patel.

Disappointing day for the Bears. We had them on the ropes at one point, but our nemesis Carberry and then Ervine put them in a commanding position. We need 332 to win tomorrow with all wickets in tact. Sussex achieved a similar feat in the opening game at Edgbaston last season, but it is a tall order, even on a pitch as good as this one.

Yes, a disappointing day for the Bears. Hampshire really are a team we seem to struggle against in recent times.Carberry and Ervine certainly enjoy playing  against the Bears

228-5. Ton for Chopra. Been playing for the draw for most of the day.

Match drawn. Chopra's ton took almost 300 balls. We stopped chasing after Westwood got out. Nothing for the bowlers in the wicket.

I'm not sure if my eyes are deceiving me. Did Clarke move to his right before diving to his left? That's some catch though!

Sounded hard work today against Hants, was following the game on line and at one stage i thought my lap top had failed as we went 5 overs without a run. Well done to Chopra for his unbeaten 119

Ambrose is out for a few weeks with a torn glute. Who is the reserve keeper now?

Woakes injured his knee during his rehab after his foot injury and had keyhole surgery yesterday. He will be out for a further month. I don't know who this affects more, the Bears or England.

Thanks. I should have remembered that he played at the end of last season.
