Great day's cricket. As far as I could see, and I was behind the wicket for the whole day, there was no swing and negligible movement off the seam. There was however, uneven bounce. Quite how we managed to make their opening bowlers Berg and Tomlinson appear like Lilley and Thomson will forever remain a mystery to me.
The Hampshire supporters I spoke to reckoned their seamers are handy with the new ball but very ineffectual once the shine had gone.
Rikki Clark and Barker were having heavy verbals with Carberry. Quite amusing to watch with binoculars.
As is often the case until mid summer, the pavilion end was like a wind tunnel/fridge while the city end was bathed in sunshine. In mid afternoon I counted around 30 members outside the Tom Dollery Suite; the rest were inside.
