I know that the post is addressed to someone else, but can you explain exactly what you thought was so bad about what happened last night?
Sure. I hate to see pissed up dickheads running on to the pitch while the game's still going on.  I hate to see pissed up dickheads running on to the pitch at the final whistle, while the players are still on the pitch, in a charged up derby game, when there clearly aren't enough stewards or police to cope with it if something went off.  I hate to see police and fans squaring up with batons being brandished.  I hate to see seats being ripped up and chucked at people.  I hate that the Villa's reputation suffers become some pissed up dickheads think it's okay.

I wonder what McNulty, Lawrenson, Pearce and all the other self righteous tossers made of it when Villa fans streamed onto the pitch at Highbury in 1981, Swindon in 88, Tranmere and so on.

I think back to iconic images the pictures of Villa fans holding Garry Thompson aloft at the County Ground. That marked the end of a particularly bleak period for the club.  I'm not putting beating a piss poor Smethwick on a par with winning the league, making a cup final or gaining promotion. But hopefully, the images of Delph with the fans last night might go on to be seen as a turning point for us in years to come.

My mind is a bit fuzzy from yesterday.

What time was the first pitch incursion (it was not an invasion)?

I've only invaded a pitch once. Cardiff Arms Park. Llanelli v Ponypool in the cup final as I recall. It was exuberant. Then when you stopped, you looked up and saw the magnificent stadium and wondered what it would like to play on that pitch. I'm not even a rugby fan.

I'm not having this Man Utd pitch invasion at Villa Park,
it was no more than a few Herbert's jumping the side hoardings and celebrating a goal for a few seconds
They have never mounted a decent pitch invasion in there lives, piss poor attemptsl in fact

We are the undisputed kings of the pitch invasion, about 10,0000 of us fuckers all over the pitch pilling on from every stand, now that's a proper pitch invasion, and no manc club had ever come close to doing the same,
so let's have less of this shit about Utd running all over the pitch, they didn't, they are a bunch of no mark wankers that wouldn't know what a proper pitch invasion was if it whacked them square in the face

For the record, I was on the pitch against Blackburn and also against Derby county around 77/78 which in fairness I didn't have much choice about, but did get arrested and my mum and grandma had to come and collect me from Derby police station which didn't do my street cred much good

one of my friends sons works in the upper north and was badly injured when they broke into a kiosk had to be taken to hospital for treatment . hateed the tesco bags before more than small heath now hate them even more if that was possible. SOTb

Sorry to hear that, stewards would have got a kicking too especially after the apparent incidents between them and Albion fans on Tuesday. Just not enough police, end of.

Reading the forum I think Liam pointed us too after the first game, the Albion fans were up for a ruck with the Stewards days before the match. It is annoying that Villa are getting much of the bad press and Albion are being so self rightous about it all, when their fans were on the pitch after the goal in the league game, their fans were flinging seats causing damage I hope we bill the scummy bastards for and their fans it would appear have hurt a friend of a member on here while he was doing his job. Hardly seems a very balanced view. Mind Delph coming in and saying it was scary and he was bitten probably didn't help us too much.

Just before the 94th minute iirc.

Spot on John, we even had brolly man down at Selhurst Park.

Didn't someone run on and go down on one knee and propose to Tony Daley once?

So probably fans misunderstanding a referees whistle?

Happened in Tuesday too from the commentators. The red blew for the restart and they declared game finished only to be very "ooh the game still has some time left."

A load of nothing over nothing.

What's a damn shame is that we are spending so much time talking about this as opposed to what was an excellent victory. That today should be the only thing being discussed.

Was at the game and watch the i player coverage it does seem a fuss about nothing.

I do wonder how much Pearce and Lawrenson then prompted the tone of other media coverage. They appeared to be egging each other on and Lineker tried to correct the record afterwards. 606 was equally hysterical after the game.

As for stewarding a lot of them were dragged out of position trying to stop the Albion fans getting at Villa fans at the segregation barrier. albion supporters fought with police and it seemed to drag everybody out of position and I think that's what egged supporters in witton lane on to go on the pitch.

I suppose biggest priority was to stop fighting. It is lucky so many Albion fans had left before the end and that they weren't kept behind.

It is a good point. Twice in a week, against a side managed by the current flavour of the month, we battled harder, worked harder and played better football, thoroughly deserving to win on both occasions.

The BBC, and Daily Mail are right.

What I've loved about the last two games is by the end I do not have the urge to slag any of our players off.  It feels so good to feel good about our own players again.  Everyone put in a shift, and N'Zog and Cleverly rightly were applauded when they were subbed.

It sounds weird, but I'd forgotten what it's like not to be angry at my team!
Some insight there Joe.

A fine rant John e, but I have to refer you to the famous Manc derby at Old Trafford in 1974 when Denis Law scored against man yoo to send them down ( I know it didn't actually send them down but that's football folklore for you).

Forgot to say that Clark was my MOTM again, what a change in fortune for the lad and seems to really have matured into a good centre half
He's been superb to be honest. I rate him higher than Cahill.
