No more fucking Scottish managers! There's two reasons Scottish football is fucked - shit players and shit managers.

The most successful manager in our history was Scottish.

Arguably the two most successful managers in English Football history have been Scottish.

As have 4 of Villa's worst ever managers. Maybe there's just a lot of Scottish managers about

I know not everyone's in favour of looking at bookies' odds to add some objectivity to a debate, but Sherwood's now clear favourite in the 'next manager to leave his post' betting. Around evens.

McClaren second favourite for what it's worth.

I would say it's more to do with the fact that their game has no money.

I think Dave means that he wasn't a 'manager'.

Even if he thought he was!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/11932271/If-Tim-Sherwood-is-sacked-those-behind-Aston-Villas-deeply-flawed-transfer-policy-should-pay-too.html

An interesting angle, looks like Tim has friends in the media. Puts forward some good points. Regardless, Lerner and Fox will not want to lose out on the financial gains of staying in the PL, so unless results start putting points on the board, it looks like it is the start of the end game for Tim. The media know it's happening, so do we.

I may be alone in thinking this but so far I have been completely underwhelmed by our new signings.

Whatever we paid for them it was far too much and I can't see how we can hope to recoup our outgoings on them.

Whose fault this is - I have no idea

While I was slightly tongue in cheek about Scottish managers, more seriously can anyone think of any notably successful managers from the west Midlands? Not one springs to my mind. Off the top of my head Yorkshire has produced Chapman, Clough, Revie, Nicholson. The north east has Paisley, Kendall and Catterick. The Wirral has Saunders, Mercer, Cullis. Even Dagenham has Ramsey and, er, Venables. West Midlands, nothing.

I know Durham is quite far north but Bob Paisley was definitely English.

BFR? I know he was born in Liverpool but he's one of us.

Much as I love BFR, as a manager he didn't achieve much relatively. A handful of cups and and a couple of league near misses doesn't put him in the front rank of successful managers. Sort of a much less annoying equivalent of Harry Redknapp.

Agreed. But he achieved way more than Redknapp.
