They may well have done, but in Koeman's case would he have been the same competent manager back then without his grounding in what most would consider a lower standard league?
In 2010 Koeman had been managing for more than a decade, at six different clubs across three leagues.

He hadn't always done the best job at all of them, but a lack of 'grounding' certainly wouldn't have been the reason not to appoint him.

Klopp, Biesla and Favre are all out of a job as it stands and the financial muscle of the premier league compared to everywhere else has never been stronger.

Some ambition could bag one of those. I'd rather go down having tried rather than bring some lummox like Allardyce for survival on a diet of gruel.

What is the story with this Bielsa fella? When you talk of him being a bit of a loose cannon I take it he doesn't throw his own shite about, what has he done that marks him out as being unstable?

Legend has it that Bielsa once drew circles on his shoes using a marker in order to show his Bilbao players how to kick the football. He continued wearing those same shoes for months afterwards. He is also been known to devise team formations after measuring the dimensions of the football pitch in different stadiums using an inch tape.

He spends the best part of the match crouched on his knees on the edge of the touchline, which is an awfully ominous task for a 60 year old. Last season, he became the subject of a butt of jokes on social media after accidentally sitting down on a hot cup of coffee. He keeps a stopwatch in his hand during training and often picks out random children from the crowd to deliver instructions to his players.

You see to me, that sounds absolutely fine.

There are loads of articles on him, basically he's a football addict and his attention to detail is obsessive bordering OCD. Great manager, one of my favourite performances of recent years was seeing Bilbao knock Man Utd out beating them in both legs, completely outclassed Fergiscum.

Agreed
The manager is the most important person in the club,
I know it's a bit extreme but getting a good manager is paramount, so why don't you just go to someone really good and say here's 15/20 million in your pocket, now come to us
we pay that on a couple of average players so why not use it to bring in a top man

Everyone says it's all about money anyway, so we might and well play it that way

I think we pay say 2 millions a year on a elite manager from europe (as long he have experience) we could make a lot of saving on quality purchases and better contact in european football. Rather than try to use big name or latest young hot property with little experience.

Those two games were sheer class, prob some of the best football I've watched.

And Chile play in that aggressive, attacking way thanks to him.

I'll have some of that please.

As I've mentioned earlier by the time you add in the compensation to the previous manager we're paying the equivalent of a top/decent manager's salary. It would be far better if we actually paid all the money to a top/decent manager rather than paying two crap ones.

He sounds perfect. The coffee at VP is always stone cold and measuring our hallowed turf in inches not millimetres has him walking on water in my book.

I've never heard of him but he's not Sherwood or Allardyce so I love him too.

We don't really need a genius, just somebody with a firm grasp on how to organise a bunch of evidently talented individuals.
