The answer is to get the players proper jobs as well as their part time occupation with Villa, think how much fitter say, Westwood would be if he had forty hours working in a chip shop under his belt as well. I wonder why no one has thought of it before.

I wouldn't trust him to get the chips in the fryer properly.

he would be great at pointing out to others where it was

He'd be standing by the fryer when the spuds needed peeling, and not there when they wanted taking out.

At some point, the local scrote would come in, help himself to a bag of chips and walk off without paying while Westwood didn't lift a finger to catch him.

Gabby would be stood there looking bemused, not even realising it was a chip shop.

You're all wrong. There'd be no chip shop because Richard Dunne would have eaten all 4 seasons ago.

he did try from a couple of feet away but a quite aggresive waft of air from the ruffians shell suit proved to be step too far

Very early days but I reckon Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank could turn out to be a decent manager, done great stuff at Burton.

 would be another gamble ,,,,,,,

Who at Watford searches out their managers as they have had a few decent one recently. The Boro manager (former Real Madrid player) hasa lot of potential.

Far from a flawless source, but apparently we had the chance to appoint Flores when we decided that McLeish would be a better option.

Quote
...a friend said: "Quique was very optimistic about achieving his targets and felt he was extremely confident of attracting top La Liga stars to join him at Villa."

Those players could have included rejuvenated former Arsenal striker Jose Antonio Reyes, who revelled under Sanchez Flores at both Benfica and Atletico.

Despite Sanchez Flores' interest and his reputation as a persuasive and intelligent technical coach, Villa owner Randy Lerner switched targets to McLeish, sparking a hugely negative response among the Villa supporters.

Sanchez Flores is still prepared to listen if fan power forces Villa to come calling again.

The friend added: "Quique wants the job and wants to come to England.

"He feels that he and Pako would make a really good team at a club with great potential and is not fussed about where he will have been on their initial preference list."

Didn't Koeman and Rijkaard publicly declare they were interested in the job in 2010?

Staggering to think of the ineptitude at the top that sees us jettison that calibre of candidate for numpties with the all important Premier League experience.

They may well have done, but in Koeman's case would he have been the same competent manager back then without his grounding in what most would consider a lower standard league? Southampton no doubt have done really well with him and especially considering all of the players they have sold in that time. He's bought well overall but it's the style of football and general consistency in that time that I most admire. See Swansea also.
