Lacking experience but he's making us all eat some humble pie with what he has been able to do in such a short space of time. His tactical changes at HT, and whatever else he said were frankly brilliant. We played some really good football in the second half and if everyone has noticed our midfielders are really involved in our attacks now. That is a great change. Keep it up Tim!!
Don't want to be picky on such a good day but not all of us need to eat humble pie because not all of us were saying it was a bad appointment

He's done nothing yet but he's certainly trying to go about it the right way!

And also without wanting to be picky, winning two of his four games doesn't mean he's not a bad appointment.

He's doing fine so far. But it's not like he's our Alex Ferguson just yet. Let's see where we are in May, and this time next year before we break out the Champagne.

no, that's true but given how horrendous you for one thought this would be it hasn't been anything as bad as that. Giving out a little credit wouldn't kill you. Nobody said he was Alex Ferguson and every single one of us knows that two wins doesn't mean he's arrived. But he's not remotely the disaster a few thought he'd be. We are still allowed to be wary and skeptical, but it is ok to say he's done really well given the circumstances of his arrival, and the state the club appeared to be in. In just over two weeks, the play is night and day to the last days of Lambert. For a manager of any experience level and certainly for one as inexperienced as he is that's some achievement.

yeah without doubt he's started well. But I won't comment until we're either mathematically safe or until the end of the season. It's been a good two weeks but we've still seen a typical two-halves Villa performance in both Albion games. That we've won is a start but we are still in big trouble in the league and still may go down. it's still a tough call to survive. But, I'm enjoying today, at the end of a very good Villa footballing week. I'll leave it until Monday to start worrying again.

If you want to look back, on the day of his appointment I said that he would give us the boost to win a few games immediately after his appointment, we would stay up and next year he would be found out as the chancer that he is.

So far he's doing exactly as I thought he would.

I'm not the one that suggested a couple of days before we hired him that he was "the new Paul Ince. Five minutes in the sun let alone 15 and he should be managing Aston Villa"

Dave that is hilariously selective, because your first comment on his appointment was this

Congratulations, you fucking idiots, you've added another embarrassing entry to your list of shit appointments.

We really have given up.

Bit over the top
Nope, absolutely accurate.

Out of the frying pan, into a fucking cremation oven.

I don't deny for one second I didn't want him. In fact I'd go as far as admitting I even called him a chancer because that's exactly as he came across from his time at Spurs. But I will also readily admit that bit by bit I have liked what I have seen. That while he's not proven anything, he's going some way to proving that maybe we might have been a bit hasty in judging him. I will hold up my hands and say I was, and I will also say I have liked what he has said, how he has gone about things, and I certainly like what I am seeing on the pitch. It certainly hasn't anything remotely like jumping into a cremation oven that much I will tell you. But each to their own. I'll give credit where it is due.

Given the disastorous records Lambert effortlessly produced on a regular basis, how bad would next season have to be for him to be sacked during it? 0 points from the first 10 games?

I didnt want him either , but you know what, he has made two excellent tactical adjustments against a Pulis side that has been getting good results.

Perhaps he is not "another british plodder" I labelled him as. Good job Sherwood.

It's Sherwood!

Sorry, just wanted to say that with jazz hands. He's been a breath of fresh air, fair play to the half mad bastard. Anyone who can beat a Pulis side of cloggers twice within the space of a week is ok in my book, even more so considering it was Albion. If there was any justice in this world all of the teams managed by Tony Pulis would automatically be relegated forever until he was forced to do something else, like working in New Era.

Well, this is clearly where we differ then. I've stuck to my opinion that he would provide this bounce and win us a few games (as I still did even after he'd lost his first two matches) and keep us up. And I still think that in spite of this that next year will be more of what we've seen for the last few years. You're welcome to quote this post in 10 months time if I'm wrong, I'd be absolutely delighted if you do.

You've changed your mind on him - that's fine, but I have no need to change my opinion, as we're pretty much on track for what I was expecting so far (hell, after going through my posts to check this I even predicted that he would bring out the best in Sinclair three weeks ago ;))

Why exaggerate things? You're talking about four games, which is exactly the same number of games on the evidence of which Lambert got a new contract not so long ago.

Dave obviously gave out credit, anyone can see that, but he's right, it is great that we've beaten Albion twice, but it's nothing like a big enough sample of matches to judge a manager.

Just be happy with what we've done today rather than engage in some sort of pointless "falling in line" exercise.

Sherwood has been here four games. Anyone intending to judge him on the basis of that - whichever way - is wasting their time.

He's put more smiles onto faces on this place and at Villa Park in a couple of weeks than Lambert did in about 18 months. We were going to hell quickly and we might now have a chance for a very decent end to the season. As much as I didn't like the scenes at the end of the game today it also comes on the back of what has seemingly been an eternity of misery at Villa Park. I hope like everyone that it lasts and he proves to be a very successful manager for us.
