This picture removal reminds me of the time Tony Blair appeared for the press after one of his children was born with a family printed mug of coffee.

I don't mind him talking about his old club. He's clearly proud of what he did there, but if it comes at the expense of talking up his current club, then it's a problem (Houllier, O Leary). But he's really been positive about the club. The more he's here too, the more (I hope) he'll be talking about what he's achieved here, who he's helped bring through etc.
O Leary and Houllier just seemed to get a bit misty eyed about their old clubs, and gave the impression that Villa was beneath them.

Is it not also possible that Lambert kept that picture around to remind the players of how well they can play? I mean, I agree with taking it down, but the idea that it was there for no reason other than small-time pride seems a bit unfair.

There are many things which people say they 'like' about Sherwood, and I don't happen to like many of them. The gobbing off to the press is pretty embarrassing and undignified, the jumping around like a maniac is, at best, unimportant (and possibly hypocritical, as he talks about them playing with freedom one minute then is shouting and swearing at them all through the game like John Beck the next), and the constant references to Spurs make me wonder why people don't react to that, but went mental at Gerard Houllier for a couple of things he said about Liverpool.

Aye.  I'm bored of the "When I was at Tottenham" reminiscences already.  It seems to come out in every bastard interview.

And unless he is planning to sign Townsend and Bentaleb (in fact, even if he is)  he should probably keep quiet about them.

Not sure how I feel about our players being told to not worry about giving the ball away either. Maybe for a few of the more creative types, the whole risk/reward thing comes into play.  But in general -particularly in todays game- you need to keep hold of the thing.   I admired NRC's workrate and effort, but winning the ball back only to give it away again is absolutely futile.

He's only had one job, where else can he refer to?

Due to his limited managerial experience this is all he has to refer to. I ma sure the Spurs refs will decrease as he builds his experience here. The one bitt hat puzzles me is how he has become somexcited about Aston Villa so quickly, so passionate. I feel this way about aston villa because i have supported them my whole, life but I couldnt switch it on like a tap for any other team. I watched Everton while at Uni but their goals and cup wns never evoked the same emotion in me. I lived in San Sebastian for a yar and went to Sociedad games. Again while enjoying the gamesnothing like the feeling of a win at B6. Wheras Sherwood has gone from 0-60 in 2 weeks. I am not knocking him. Maybe he is a passionate person by nature or maybe fans are fans and we look at things differently.
How good was if to see Gary Shaw by the European Cup on FF and me telling my youngeat daughter how me and her uncle used to stand on the Holte sinnging Gary Shaw, Gary Shaw, Gary Gary Shaw........Half a lifetime ago

I think he sees it as a way of easing the pressure on the team, so they play with fewer inhibitions. We've been focused on keeping the ball, but in "safe" positions. He clearly wants the players to gamble a bit more, and that seems fair enough.

The Spurs stuff will die down in time. I'm not letting that bother me. He seems quite bitter at how it ended or more specifically how despite keeping the club in a similar position in the league he wasn't given an opportunity to carry on. So be it. What's most important is how he does with us. We've immediately become more interesting as opposed to be being the most boring club in the division. What he needs to ensure is that the results match the words because they will really get old very fast if we don't win games.

I keep hearing small details about what Sherwood's doing and they're so shockingly obvious that it really puts Lambert in a bad light. Not a large enough coaching staff, U21's not playing near the first team and now a picture from a league game. It makes me think Lambert might have a hard time getting another job.
The office that he has been in for two weeks, he suddenly realises that an offending picture from the Sunderland game is on the wall just as he sits down to talk with a journalist from the Daily Mail?

It's good stage management, certainly.

I thought that but there may just as easily be a legitimate reason, like he's decided to use a different office to what Lambert used and is setting up. It could equally be what you suggested too though.

Of the Spurs references, how many is he bringing up himself and how many are where a journalist is bringing it up?

A good point. We only get the clips of interviews and not always how his answers are derived. I'm sure some is voluntary, but he's the shiny new thing for the journalists to get sounds from. Also, Harry Kane, who he is given credit for introducing to the Spurs first team is the new darling of English football, so as a story it remains somewhat fresh as long he does well.

Lacking experience but he's making us all eat some humble pie with what he has been able to do in such a short space of time. His tactical changes at HT, and whatever else he said were frankly brilliant. We played some really good football in the second half and if everyone has noticed our midfielders are really involved in our attacks now. That is a great change. Keep it up Tim!!

Yep it looks like potentially we have a decent manager loved the way we attacked second half at pace and on the ground

Get chiselling that statue...

Only joking but he's had a very good week, no question.

I'm enjoying watching us play again which is enough.

Let's see what the rest of the season brings but with this momentum we should be o.k league wise now. In the Cup who knows?

I'm looking forward to next season. What sort of targets and transfer policy Sherwood conducts and how we play when we start on 0 points with 38 games to play rather than the 22 with 12 games to play which changes the dynamics a fair bit.

As it stands we have a decent squad and Sherwood is extracting that extra percentage out of them in his own way.

Would imagine the season tickets sales will pick up a bit in the summer so there should be a feelgood factor back at VP for the start of next season.

I felt this week might be transformational and thats the way it has worked out .

I also felt a couple  of tussles with Pulis would be a chance to judge Sherwoods managerial ability.

Obviously there is a long way to go but the signs are promising.
