One thing is for sure .Stoke on Saturday is a very important match for Tim Sherwood and the Villa supporters in general. A win would be most helpful in seeing a positive future.
It's a winnable fixture. Massive game.
Should be a good atmosphere. Reckon we'll come flying out the traps.

Let's put it this way. The gate has gone from 23k to 35k plus for a game versus Stoke. Villa fans just needed to feel a pulse to get back to doing what they love, and really feeling passionate about the club again. Up until this appointment we were as good as dead. The pulse was really faint. Surely that counts for something.

There is zero chance we'd have got 23K against Stoke.

Ok, maybe not 23k, I don'it know it would have been a lot more if Lambert was still here. Certainly under 30k. I'd even have put money on us no longer being in the FA Cup. We would have a very disillusioned fan base, so saying even 27k is poor. And the atmosphere would be miserable.

I don't think 23k is an unreasonable estimate. Considering we only had 28k on Saturday including 6k Leicester fans.

SOTC & I will be there on Saturday.

It's been so long since we last went I suspect there will be a few sarcastic comments from people who sit around us.

Bloody glory-hunting tourists, only show up when the big boys come to town......

Is it 35k sold already? I'm going to take the kids but sounds as though cheap seats will have sold out

No I didn't mean to mislead you. I have no idea what is sold, I just think that's where it might be in the end.

I think there's definitely reason to be negative about this appointment, but personally, I'm just ignoring it as I don't really want to think about the consequences of Sherwood being a failure. I think, at the moment, I'm hopeful more than anything. This is a fairly good set of players who, I feel, have been held back by Lambert, so now he's been replaced, I'm expecting a good performance vs Stoke and who knows, maybe even a win!

The fans will play a massive role in the coming weeks. You can already sense that many will simply return because Lambert is gone. They have been incredible throughout the last couple of seasons for sure as things crumbled and deserve so much better.

Hopefully starting Saturday we will see a much improved Villa, just continuing on from the second half vs Leicester. That side, that attitude is good enough to beat a good percentage of the sides in this league. We know it isn't good to complete consistently at the top end, but for right now we don't need to worry about that. We just need to knock off the sides immediately around us which we have an opportunity to do in the next few games. if we can get to Man U with another 10 points or so, we'll be fine for the balance of the run in. There are plenty of sides around us capable of collapsing and replacing us in the bottom 3.

I think that's a pretty sensible way of looking at things.

I still think it's a horrendous appointment, but we might as well accept it and cross our fingers that they've accidentally managed to trip over the right manager for the first time.

Sunderland are imploding, we have lots of winnable home games and are likely to play with a higher tempo. Senderos and Vlaar are back and the buzz is back at the club. Reasons to be cheerful. A draw on Saturday wouldn't be terrible, but this team are capable of more than that.

Well i'd like to go on record and say it's a great appointment. There are plenty of managers out there with hundreds of games under their belts, those available are out of work due to in the main being failures elsewhere. Sherwood had a short but successful spell at Spurs, he lost his job because they wanted someone with a higher profile. As for folks not liking him..... so what? It's not like he's marrying your sister. He has a lot of similarities to John Gregory, and whilst he was never universally popular he turned round the sinking ship that Brian Little, (club legend and extremely likeable) had left. With the right staff I think Sherwood has the potential to be a success for us. After the past four years, success for me is mid table achieved by playing entertaining football.
Doubting Sherwood due to his inexperience is fair enough I suppose but he deserves our full backing.

Honestly believe the players had given up on lambert and were not giving 100% for the cause , inexcusable but somewhat understandable after the shocking man management and inept tactics etc of the last 2.5 years . I'm hoping now (even if only short term) they will be galvanised into performing to the limits of their capacity, played in their correct positions and sent out with a clear, positive brief with confidence gradually restored .

Shawcross is out on Saturday which is a big boost, as is bojan

And 2 other defenders, Cameron and Muniesa are out and 2 others are potential doubts. Walters and Crouch might also be out. Ireland is out.

That's a blow for us that Ireland is out

Come on now don't take the piss. He's attending Granny 7's funeral. Have a heart.

Don't be suprised of this doesn't happen, at Spurs Sherwood had a habit of playing wingers in central midfield, fullbacks as wingers etc etc

At the very least, something has changed.

Whether it is for the better or the worse, we don't know yet, but something will be different, that much we do know. That alone is cause for hope.

This is my feeling with it.

Something had to change. We either needed to spunk £20m on a top draw player, or sack the manager.

I'm glad the latter was done.

I feel brighter and a lot more positive than I did a week ago, and if the players are then we stand a better chance of survival.
