Shocking. I am beginning to wish Sherwood had been appointed sooner as I still think we have left it too late. Saturday will be a major factor in determining our survival in the top flight.

In theory it only needs a small improvement on that. Repeating the 10 points Lambert jammed would put us on 32. 38 will almost certainly keep us up.

With Lambert going theres an element of buzz anyway, it's like a huge cloud has lifted. I still like the bloke and hope he does ok elsewhere. I do wonder though if the squad feel the same?
I wonder if they feel alive again but don't want to admit it because of loyalties to him?

If this is true and with Sherwoods enthusiasm it could bode very well for the last part of the season.

I like to think of half time in the Leicester fa cup game as the defining moment on the pitch this season. The moment we stopped being Lambert's villa and became Sherwood's villa, and hopefully better times ahead.

We do really need a win on Saturday to kick start things.

One thing is for sure .Stoke on Saturday is a very important match for Tim Sherwood and the Villa supporters in general. A win would be most helpful in seeing a positive future.
It's a winnable fixture. Massive game.
Should be a good atmosphere. Reckon we'll come flying out the traps.

Let's put it this way. The gate has gone from 23k to 35k plus for a game versus Stoke. Villa fans just needed to feel a pulse to get back to doing what they love, and really feeling passionate about the club again. Up until this appointment we were as good as dead. The pulse was really faint. Surely that counts for something.

There is zero chance we'd have got 23K against Stoke.

Ok, maybe not 23k, I don'it know it would have been a lot more if Lambert was still here. Certainly under 30k. I'd even have put money on us no longer being in the FA Cup. We would have a very disillusioned fan base, so saying even 27k is poor. And the atmosphere would be miserable.

Not my pick of manager at the start but I think I was very wrong.
He's got something about him and may well be perfect for us.

Main task has to be sorting the balance of the midfield out.

We were in a downward spiral towards relegation. At least now we have some semblance of hope.
This.

He's manager of Aston Villa.
He has my 100% support.

And 2 other defenders, Cameron and Muniesa are out and 2 others are potential doubts. Walters and Crouch might also be out. Ireland is out.

That's a blow for us that Ireland is out

Is it 35k sold already? I'm going to take the kids but sounds as though cheap seats will have sold out

As I said the day of the Hull game, when you have a burst pipe in your loft the first thing you do is call for a plumber. The interior decorator and the carpet fitter come later.

To spin that around somewhat:  If you live in a stately home and spring a leak, would you call a rookie plumber?

If he was fully qualified, charged a reasonable rate, identified the problem and indicated a convincing method of  remedy? Yes.

SOTC & I will be there on Saturday.

It's been so long since we last went I suspect there will be a few sarcastic comments from people who sit around us.

People are saying he is not a tactician due to how he did at Spurs. Well he left there and has had time to take stock of how it went, what he may have done differently, etc. Who knows he may even have been having long chats with, say Mourinho, about tactics etc. We shall just have to wait and see how it all pans out. He is here, we have 13 matches to save ourselves from ignominy so we all need to get behind all of them and try and get us over the finish line.

Bloody hell I hope he did not waste time talking tactics with old Pep at Bayern - look what it did to Lambert

I'm currently in the Monty camp (if we're choosing sides), however there's no doubt the guy is pretty charismatic.  If his ego allows it and he does reflect on his experiences and learns - like fred above hopes - then he could evolve into a decent manager.  Alternatively he needs to appoint staff which complement his weaknesses.

As an aside, are there any anecdotes about his work ethic?  You'd imagine if someone with his swagger also put in a shift then he could become a v impressive manager (the 10,000 hour rule) however if he thinks his charm and intuition are all that is required then we may as well have appointed Paul 'I don't need no badges' Ince.
