I'm pleased. He's a no nonsense ball breaker and that's just what our players need, someone to kick their egos into outer space and demand performances. He has plenty about him and we'll stay up now deffo. Welcome Timothy.

Apparently Laursen would like to come back as a coach

That would be a quick way to get the fans onside. Laursen in the dugout as coach with a more experienced assistant would certainly carry good will.
But is he a good coach? I'm all for sentiment and that, but we need people that know what they're doing. Some club legends don't cut it as non-playing staff.

True, but he's done his badges so must have some level of theoretical competence and on TV he comes across as assured.  Furthermore he seemed to liked by most villa players in his time here.

The important bit, or the justification, is that he would get the fans/stadium on side.  There's a risk that Sherwood is arriving with zero goodwill in the bank.  Lauren may help turn that around.

Coach? Alex Ferguson wasn't a coach. Mourinhio isn't a coach. I want a manager who can win games.

What's the big obsession with a coach? A coach belongs in the NFL.

This is superfluous to the main thread of this argument but the thing I most admired about Laursen was his consistent application regardless of the opposition or importance of fixture. That is a good leadership quality to possess.

If Laursen's done his badges then he could be useful.

I think the obsession is that we haven't got any and it fucking shows.

Hugo Lloris told Julien Laurens of the Times that the training sessions under Sherwood were a joke.

I am glad things are settling down on the It's Sherwood thread, on the early pages he was described as a c!!t and a f!!!! n twat which is so horrible and insulting, we all have our opinions but the vitriol has been way over the top, I defended him last night amongst all the anger and angst and guess what he wouldent have been my first choice either but I do have a strong feeling he can turn things round and save us this season, after that who knows, lets all get behind our manager, good luck Tim

What IS his job title?  With us having an advert out for a Director of Football (described today in the Guardian) have we appointed Sherwood as an old school Manager or as Head Coach?

He was doing his badges when interviewed last year some time. I would have him around just to teach them how to attach a corner!!

Attach a corner? What badges were they for? Scouts?

No, a coach is something obssessed with only recently. Go backs few years and they're nothing. Who's Man City or Chelsea's coach? Do they matter more than their managers? No. Blatantly not.

I think the reaction is harsh! We all wanted Lambert out we needed a man in quickly and there isn't a great deal out there

He is driven determined and he bring confidence to the team

I think it's about time the fans got behind the team now and stopped moaning

Up the villa

Some people are just miserable fuckers who will never be happy unless they get what they want....Leave them to wallow mate :) UTV

Laursen says it here

Thanks for that, it hadn't been picked up over here.

He's basically said what a lot of us had been thinking, the players couldn't be arsed playing for Lambert any more.

It was a bit of leading question that he couldn't really say no about coming back as a coach, but he did say something similar around the time Lambert was appointed and said it was way too soon as he was still doing his coaching badges.
