City and Chelsea at home last season. The good form at the end of his first year was the only time his team had any sort of positive consistency.  Some good results on paper, Liverpool away this season, arsenal last but generally these were few and far between amongst the generally dreadful.

I agree about the dismal stuff in between the rare good bits....

Paul Lambert is a decent bloke and really wanted to succeed at our beloved Villa....he just wasn't up to the job but always has said good things about us. I wish him well.

The Norwich Cup QF was special to be fair.  Considering it was his first trip back there and it was a big game, the performance, especially in the second half, was really good.

Great memories PWS. Top celebrations behind  that goal in the away end too. Unfortunately days like that used to be the norm, not something that's happens once every year or two.

Winning 3-1 at the Emirates - Benteke and Luna

I dreamt of champions league that day.

It was the feeling that we will not get relegated now .

Maybe the new man can get Lowton playing well again .

What frustrates and saddens me about the Lambert era is that when it was good, it was very, very good but when it was bad it was horrid, despite the protestations of excellence. The wins over Sunderland, Arsenal and Liverpool are easily among the most impressive displays I've seen with honourable mentions for the wins over Stoke and Man City and Chelsea. Why such good performances were the exception rather than the rule is beyond me.

I think the difference between him and McLeish is that McLeish never tried to play an attacking style, whereas Lambert did try but largely failed, and when he did succeed could never sustain that success for very long. Good ideals but not so good ideas, I think.
