I was sort of resigned to relegation but then it struck me how horrible the printed shirt numbers and names are in the lower leagues so I'd be keen to avoid those monstrosities soiling the claret and blue.

Aren't clubs also allowed a second sponsor on the backs of the shirts?

Yes it would be more fun.
More fun than being consistantly one of the worst sides in the premier, more fun than getting stuffed 8-0 & 6-1 by sides, more fun than losing consistently week after week after week, more fun than being mocked by national & local media.

Yes it would be more fun , in fact bring it on

I'd say considering the likelihood of us going down, it's time to start looking for the positives.

The only positives I can think of are we may start to win a few games and playing against the nothing clubs in that division, potentially even Burton, Aston Villa playing Burton Albion in a league game for fucks sake, might wake the support from it's slumber. Apart from that Lerner might go, the complete and utter twat and we might get taken over by someone with a plan that isn't either completely dim-witted or changes on a weekly basis.

Fulham away again. Easily the best away game in the country.

It would be joyless shite and a stain on the history of the club, however brief.

Far better to be poor in a league that matters than to be anything at all in one that does not.

I think it would if we won games and came back up at the first attempt.  Yes, I know, if.

We could actually get some real momentum going that way. This death by a thousand defeats we've suffered over the last 5 years is utterly miserable. I just want to enjoy football again.

No guarantees though with Lerner and his flunkies calling the shots.

If we want to enjoy football again then we should let Garde purchase some good quality first team players in January and play our way out of the mire.

Yes that woud be great. Spend the required £50-70 million in January on the 5 quality first team players that we need, overhaul a probable 10 point gap and kick on next season.

And while we're at it lets have Kate Upton round for a quickie before each match.

I'm genuinely gutted to say it ain't gonna happen.

agree with that although if we dont have a minimum of 12 points on the board at 5pm on 1st jan we are down so no point unless we are buying ready for the championship

I don't go to the Villa to see Chelsea, Man United, Man City etc. I go to see the my team win more games than they lose, play decent football send me home with a smile on my face. That hasn't happened for a long time now, so if we have to drop a division so be it.

It would certainly be fun if we spanked Birmingham, Wolves, Forest, Derby, Coventry, Walsall, Burton, Sheffield Wed, Leeds etc and came back up with something close to record points.

Obviously none of us want to go down. But in reality it's 90% likely and i've already kind of accepted we deserve it this season.

That said, I genuinely don't see the big deal when/if we do. Apart from some record of having been in the PL for it's entirety and missing out on going to grounds we've probably all become bored with do we really care ?

We're just existing to survive every year in the PL and it's no fun any more. A change of scenery might be just what the doctor ordered to get the juices flowing again/

We're not £50-70 million away from safety. We need quality players. They may well command £10 million plus, but in the short term, that may be what is required to really strengthen the spine and allow the players of good quality, like Veretout and Ayew, who are looking increasingly more like it, to have a good crack at the league.

That's your recipe for turning it around, not travelling to some 2nd Division shit heap on a Saturday in some Mickey Mouse league.
