He always had a defined role - creative midfielder.

He failed, again and again, with whichever manager here.  Now he's failing again with another club.

No point in wasting any more time on him.

Gil is the ultimate flatters to decieve player. Every good touch he has is inside his own half. He's far too slow and leightweight to compete in England. He's not even doing well in his native country which says an awful lot, considering he's technically he's supposed to be decent.
He'll be better off in the MLS where he has time on the ball.

Agree with the last couple of posts. If he was that good he wouldn't be looking to come back to a Championship side when he's playing in the top tier back home. He has the odd flash of real quality but overall is all fart and no shit. I remember his right foot being just for standing on whenever I saw him.

Far too weak and one footed.

Definitely not a Steve Bruce type of player.

Get rid with Westwood in January.

We need more powerful players with skills and Gil is not the answer. I wouldn't bother with like of Gil and Sanchez and Westwood.

I want him back. Players like Carles are sometimes worth the ticket money on their own.

Whch of the games that he played in would you consider that was true for?

Get him back he gives us another option

If wee Barry is good enough for this division Gill should be as well. Similar players and level of quality

Id have Veretout back as well given the chance

Written with that typical Meaning Evil 'Journalise' ( below) , it seems young master Carles is doing rather well in Spain, comparisons with Messi & Ronaldo etc.  So we either get back a fine finished product or we sell him on at a good profit, it's a win-win situation .... keep it up, Carles! ( aka ' Young Twinkletoes', by his team mates, allegedly ).....Godzvilla!

Aston Villa: Carles Gil is tearing up La Liga and is as .....
good as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi - sort of...

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the best two players in the world,
A statement that not too many people would disagree with.
They regularly lay siege to defences in La Liga, but now it seems they have some competitiom from the most unlikeliest of places.
Yes folks, Carles Gil, take a bow.
The Villa midfielder is on-loan at Deportivo until the end of the season, and it's going pretty well.
It hasn't been all plain sailing but he is starting to feature and make an impact.
So much so that he has the same number of assists as Lionel Messi, and MORE than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Of course he has a long way to go before he can truly stand alongside them.
We are being a little tongue-in-cheek.
Still, the facts speak for themselves!
It won't be a surprise to Villa players though, when he did showcase his skills at Villa Park, he was sublime.
Those glimpses should have been more prevalent, some fans still see him as having a future at the club, as unlikely as that now seems.

gil hasn't played for depor for weeks.

i assume he was injured as he was playing regularly for them before xmas.

of the loanees veretout i'd say is doing the best as he's playing every week so would think a french side would offer 2-3m and we'll take it. sanchez has played a decent amount at fiorentina. he played rb v juventus and actually played pretty well.

As mentioned typical Evil. He has 4 assists which is joint 10th. To show how meaningless that is, 3 assists is joint 24th, so he shares 4 assists with 13 other players. Then we have Adomah already on 5 assists this season. Hourihane has 11 before he signed for us. I wonder if there is a job for Kellyanne at the Evil when she is driven out.

He's also played less than 500 minutes this season I think, so yeah, terrible reporting.

I just assumed they'd given him a ball & he'd dribbled it sideways, sideways, sideways...straight out of the Depor stadium
