I wouldn't call it great news, but i'm not unhappy about it either. He was alright and like I think i've already said, I don't think he was quite right for playing over here. Some of those goals were great though.

It's hard to think of a player who 'failed' at VP who scored three such memorable goals, all fit to win an MOTD competition.

When I see Carlos play I find he always move towards the left side of player and rarely go to right side. I didn't think he is good enough for English football and doesn't use both foot enough.

Maybe you should have offered to teach him salsa and it might have rubbed off on his football skills.

Article in B'ham Mail suggesting things aren't working out for him at his current club and he may be returning to Villa. Personally I think he'd do really well at Championship level. We lack that creativity in the midfield.

i really miss his pedestrian meaningless sideways runs from one side of the pitch to the other followed by getting knocked off the ball by a big blade of grass

I'd like to see the Carles who first joined us. Those first few games he was a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately he's had a succession of useless managers and coaches. Who knows, if he returns, Steve Bruce might just get the best out of him

I want him back. Players like Carles are sometimes worth the ticket money on their own.

I would like to see Carles,Carlos and Jordan Veretout back with Bruce as manager. They could all be very useful this season especially Sanchez.

Article states right at the end (how convenient) that it's a season long loan so can't get him back anyway...not sure how that works if both parties want to end it I assume they can?
FWIW I'd have him back...good player in a struggling team and I always thought he looked a step ahead of most of the team. The one player that could make things happen in midfield in this team.

Wasn't Cissokho out on loan in similar circumstances last season, originally planned as a season loan, but Garde managed to bring him back?

Gill is basically Westwood on the wing. It's a no from me.

Not sure where he'd fit in. Three in the middle seems the way to go at this stage, which makes having pace in the front three quite important.

Like Gestede, I think he's most suited to coming off the bench and playing quick one-twos around tired defenders.

Not a chance.  Gil's close ball control is better than anyone else in the squad.  Some of the runs he makes are mesmerising and it's a joy to watch.  He suffers though from a lack of end product, which was highlighted in the Prem.  Then once his confidence went he stopped trying anything other than the simple pass, like every other player.

If we could get a confident Gil back I reckon he'd destroy this division.

I reckon he'd struggle more with the physicality of this division and be worse.

Just like Westwood.

Would he benefit from Bruce giving him a defined role?

Jedinak, Gardner and Bacuna, to name just three, seem to have improved a lot by the virtue of appearing to have a specific remit.
