I watched a few Wednesday games at the back-end of last season and Bannan has actually added some tenacity to his game. Regardless of size, I don't think that Gil has this in his locker.

The only positive with Gil is that he had some creativity. If he has gone, which appears likely, Villa has pretty much zero creativity and appear to be hard working but functional. Hopefully, RDM will get a couple in.

I don't think his tenacity was ever a major issue. Rather it was was his predilection for "the Hollywood pass", as the expression goes, and being a piss-artist drunk driver who gave it legs from the scene of the crime and made an article of himself on a well known golf course while under the influence.

When I see Carlos play I find he always move towards the left side of player and rarely go to right side. I didn't think he is good enough for English football and doesn't use both foot enough.

In which case, other teams in La Liga will be after him, and I imagine once he's back in Spain, he will want to stop there.

No great loss ........ totally one footed and the defender always knew where he would go ......
After first couple of games he was sussed
Problem was that he didn't track back and the full back rarely had support from him
Lets hope the option to buy is there

He didn't take La Liga by storm when he played in it before so I would be amazed if he does now. It's not as if he has come on in leaps and bounds in his development during his time with us.

Absolutely, he's slow, weak, goes sideways & creates very very little, those 2/3 goals don't a player make.  Valencia don't sell you a lot for 3m, Gil proves that.
