Barry seems to have gained a bit of strength to be fair, and he's also had 6-7 years in the English game now. In any case it seems as if Gil would prefer to leave anyway.

Am sad to him him go...I think he suffered due to lack of consistency in playing, our plummeting form and confidence and not having better players around him to let him do his job. Thought he was always one step ahead, looked for quick touches /passes and looked lively.

There's too many with ifs and buts about them in this squad - "he might have been" or "could be in the Championship"
As far as I'm concerned they've all failed and got us to where we are now.  I said after the Cup final I wouldn't care if I never saw any of them in a Villa shirt again, and that is how I still feel about last seasons mob.  Yes there's probably be good players in there, but to me any we can ship out, fine.  So see ya Carles, thanks for the goal v Bournemouth.

Yes some nice goals but overall too little impact on games.
Another Villa player whose reputation grew the less he played

Was always very miserable as well

Technically very gifted but rarely had any impact on the game.

They were all so **** last season that by not playing their reputations could only have improved.

He disappointed me. He looked technically great but he was too predictable and rarely made an impact.

Too slow and too one-footed to ever be that good in the Prem, should have been a cut above in the Championship but his heart would have needed to be in it to make an impact in a demanding league.

H never really lived-up to the little cameo in his first appearance against (I think ) Liverpool. Real shame, as he's obviously very technically gifted.

Carles was a Luxury player unfortunately we're in cattle class jostling for overhead luggage space this season and he wouldn't have adapted.

So much creative hope when he joined. Offered pretty much next to nothing 90% of the time. Wont even remembered he played for us in a few years time.
