Aidos Carlos! More suited to Swansea or Stoke or even a Watford wasn't able to cut it in prem and villa predicament.  Sherwood was right in that respect that gill wasn't right for relegate struggles. Good luck to him back in Spain Dr Tony should try and get him to China league  but I suspect boys homesickness too and just wants to play his footy in spain

Quote
Aston Villa look set to see plenty of their underperforming stars from last season out of the exit door at the club this summer.

One such player could be Carles Gil – with a La Liga side said to be interested in the player.

El Desmarque is reporting that Celta Vigo are keen on signing the player this summer and they also report his agent Federico Marco as making it clear that Gil will not be playing in the Championship next season and that Celta have made an approach for the player:

“His intention is not to play in the Championship and look for teams in the Premier League and La Liga.

“We have not spoken with Celta, but in the past we have been negotiating and we know he is a player to their liking. They made an offer for him, but the Aston Villa did not accept it."
Didn't actually play much in the Premier League ...

Too lightweight, get rid if the right offer comes in.

We aren't under pressure to sell anyone. If they go it is on our terms.

RDM might just get the best out of Gil. Eric fucking Black hasn't helped matters in the slightest. Grealish was another shunned. He'd rather play Bacuna & Richardson ffs! No wonder these players feel like outcasts. Gil started brilliantly but was gradually worn down by shit Management and coaching and lost confidence.

Can't see how gil will fit into RDM's plans. You can have a skillfull lightweight playesr in a team but they have to work a bit and not hide after the first hard tackle comes in. RDM played with the likes of Zola so i can't see a fanny merchant like gil getting a look-in

To be a small player in the premier league you have to either have the balance and low centre of gravity to be able to accelerate out of contact (Juninho was a master of this) or you have to be strong and aggressive (Aguero)

An impact sub at best, probably not a great deal of impact though! Only ever going to be any good if the other nine outfield players do all your work for you. Get rid.

Was thinking like that.  At the time he looked a very good signing, and compared to some of those around him he certainly looked class at time.  But not a player for a fight and it will be another fight next season.  Ideally I would like to keep him, but it is the right move, and we do need to get that wage bill down.

To be fair I don't think any of the managers he's played under have had the nous to use him properly.  That said, I don't think he has the pace or strength to play in the top flight in this country though and would be better suited to the game in Spain.
