what an odd comparison unless off course you have some inside knowledge he's going to become a little mad and appear some reality show in the future. He's done as much if not more in two games as I ever recall Curcic doing for us.

I imagine Gil will blossom here and go on to bigger and better things, and maybe celeb big brother too.

I can't remember a better individual strike by us in recent times - I'd definitely have it ahead of Lowton's at Stoke.

Nah. This is still better.

Followed by one of the best and most mental goal celebrations in the away end.

Gil's was great, but I don't think we've scored a better goal than Lowton's in the last decade

In fact, I'd go all the way back to Atkinson's in 1992 to one that I would say was definitely better than his. Although there must be others that could top it that I've forgotten about for some reason. Carbone against Leeds? Cahill? Petrov?

Because Carbone was a fanny merchant and Merson vanished in big games.

And yet they both got us there by creating and scoring in the Last 16 and the quarters against some decent sides.

As I said - big games.

But surely every FA cup game is a big game.

Curcic had a brilliant debut for us, which is what I thought of when I saw Gil as well.  Just somebody completely at ease running with the ball and trying to beat people.

Amazing though how astonishingly downhill it went and how fast. He was a very good player at Bolton. So much stuff though going on his head so just an odd comparison in that regard. But yes both had good starts with us

Curcic came with a warning sign, though.

Watching that goal from Lowton, it is such a shame we can't mould him into a midfielder because he is a technically good footballer.

I'm more concerned that we can't work with him to get the basics of defending right so he'd just be a good right back with the added benefit of his crossing ability and goals like that.

I just love watching the Lowton goal at Stoke.
An absolute cracker...and at the right time and place...Stoke away & right in front of us.

The celebrationfest just after it went in still makes my heart skip a beat but wince a bit too - think I've still got the scars just below my knees from the seat in front.
