I fail everytime I try and post a youtube video. More chance of a Gabby hatrick from three Cleverly assists than me getting that right

First impressions are positive, at least.

Yep hopefully he won't need to work with this manager.

Looks a quality player. Let's hope Lambert doesn't coach it out of him.

Maybe there's a fiendish plot by Lerner to get Lambert to unearth a couple more potential gems in the 4-6 million category and then give him the sack and replace him with a tactically proficient manager who is less competent in the transfer market? That sound you hear is of me clutching at straws.

Looks like a very promising player.

No doubt he'll be playing as an auxiliary right back in the weeks ahead as part of Lambert's innovative 5-5-0 formation.

I would rather that the systems are being put in place to identify players whoever is in charge. From the Fox interview a while back, that sounds to be the case. We need more Sanchez and Gils and less Cleverleys.

I wasn't being serious, but yeah I agree with you.

The signings of benteke, Okore, sanchez, possibly Gil, and westwood make you realise how much of a missed opportunity it was to spend spend spend without a scouting system

What a missed opportunity. Oneill's signings at those prices levels were the likes of reo Coker, harewood, Shorey, sidwell, knight, Luke Young etc. Only petrov was good value

Let's hope he is luckier than the other famous Gil!

Very impressed with this boy today. First time for a long time I got out of my seat when he played some great balls into the right place at right pace.

More impressive for me was him taking the ball past opposition players, without tripping over, running in to the defender, or overrunning the ball and giving it away / getting sent off.

I thought such players only played for other teams!

Hugely promising debut the ball seemed to be glued to his left foot at times - never ever want to see that starting midfield again

Gil has a touch of Carbone about him. He can certainly beat a defender with ease. He's got a clever step over, a fair turn of pace and very quick feet. Technically way superior to those around him.On the Valencia Forum I read, they were angry at losing him so cheaply.

Good debut.

My fear is lambert will beat the creativity out of him over the next few weeks and create Westwood MK IV out of him
