Welcome Carles, if you turn out to be half as good to watch as David Silva you'll do for me.

The booing noise you'll hear at full time is just a friendly local custom to signal the end of the siesta, take no notice.

Welcome Carles. That white stuff on the floor is snow, unless Bozzie and Yorkie have had a reunion.

My god just imagine he is half as good as Silva! That would be the best signing Lambert has made yet.

Prays quietly in the corner to the Lord Paul.

Or the collective release of thousands of Villa fans on seeing a goal.

Once the shock wears off maybe.

YouTube embedding tool isn't working for me.

Is it me, or did anyone else notice that out of the whole seven minutes of that video they didn't include his "one goal" in Spain?  How odd...

It is an area we need to improve in.  But this just strikes me as a Lambert punt who he has gotten in because he is cheap, rather than idenitifying someone better who would cost about the same or just a little more.  His age and whether he is pyhsical enough for the english game are my two main concerns.  But good luck to him.

A big WELCOME Carles Gil I wish you a long and fruitful Villa career, Unfortunately you have just arrived in time for the pantomime season so if you look around towards The Holte End and wonder where are the "fans" are please excuse them for their tardiness some will be a little late.

I want Lambert 's football to change, I don't dislike Lambert himself just that the style of football he serves up is so negative but what this signing is saying to me is the Lambert has finally realised what most of us have been complaining about and is trying to address the issue within the budget constraints placed upon him. This is the time to support the club not tear it apart with stupid embarrassing demonstration during a game.

Interested to see what he can do but let's not expect too much straight away

Transfermarkt suggests he's managed one goal and a couple of assists per season so far, in his home country

That's the first thing I read about him and wasn't too enthused. Then I read a Valencia msg board and they rate him.

Valencia's manager "Nuno" Herlander Simões Espírito Santo seems to rate him as well, judging by his comments.

I'm not too bothered if he gets loads of goals or assists, they're obviously useful but the most important thing he can do is give opposition defences something other than Benteke to worry about.  The main problem we have right now is that teams know they can push Gabby, Weimann and/or Nzog deeper and pick them off in midfield so they can afford to get both centre backs and maybe even a fullback across to crowd Benteke, that's the main reason we're struggling to get him involved.  it's also why he's getting so frustrated with other players because on the odd occasion that he does get a yard of space we don't find him with the ball anything like quickly or accurately enough.  If Gil picks it up and beats men and draws players out of position he's doing his job, and he appears to be very good at doing exactly that.

I was thinking about that Paul too. We have hopefully doubled the number of players that the opposition have to worry about, which should make it a little easier for both of them to create/score.
