Sad to hear GREALISH was poor. But when I watch the highlights of the Blackpool and palace games (not to mention sunderland) he's easily the most prominent player in terms of creating chances

Keeper should definitely have got benteke's goal

I'm bored of following villa on Twitter so hats off to anyone going to the games. Jesus.

I think if the keeper had got his hands in the way he'd have lost them  :)
There was heck of a lot of power in the shot. From where I was sat today it looked as if there was.

There's no need for that is there.

Looking on the bright side:

We quite clearly ruined Pat Murphy's afternoon by the sound of it.

Hmm I love to see that twat moan when we win. Soo good its like an extra goal :)

Utter, utter shit. Lambert couldn't get this lot look threatening if he gave them all a flick knife. One piece of Benteke brilliance gets us out of jail, but don't be fooled. We are awful.

I didn't hear Lambert out. May be only heard by people who wanted to hear that😳

It was sung a few times in the Holte. Each time it was getting louder. I think it was three times and the last one was pretty loud.

I could hear it clearly from the Upper Witton, match highlight until Benteke scored

Dull, predictable shite. A slightly better team than Blackpool would have knocked us out. I've no idea what the logic of playing Westwood in a back three for the first 30 minutes was, baffling!

Grealish showed why he is not ready to start, too lightweight / casual.

We really need to get rid of Lambert, but it ain't gonna happen.

Went today cause I won't be able to go for a while, and thought it couldn't be as bad as the Sunderland game. Actually it was pretty similar, I imagine that crystal palace wasn't too different either.

Up until bentekes goal, I think that blackpool had as many chances as us, despite being an obviously limited team. They had a few moments and half chances, and that's all we managed to create. So having the lions share of possession isn't really helping us in terms of either creating or stopping other teams.

Joe cole played well, I thought, and once he was closer to benteke looked like he might create someone. He was my man of the match, also I thought Clark and okore were fine and Sanchez did well, mostly for trying to inject some energy into the team. I think Clark looked really composed without being overconfident, seeing him play well is a positive.

Not a fan of cleverly - for me Westwood is neat and tidy in the middle and cleverly offers nothing different - no real quality on the ball, no really movement to drag defenders around. I'd drop cleverly and leave Westwood in the team, but I see what people mean about the lack of balance, or rather overly defensive and not creative midfield.

Grealish struggled once they started getting tight to him and forcing him backwards, someone said on here that he needs to learn to use his body to protect the ball and that's true, he's way too upright. He should watch joe cole (mostly) keeping the ball in tight spaces, but I like his style and it's good to see him start.

The full backs are the only players who add any kind of depth to our play, but cissokho is very limited going forward. We are crying out for genuine width in front of them.

Benteke had a very poor game for about the first hour, then woke up and played ok. You can see he is frustrated, I think we'd get the best out of him with weimann up front, who makes a lot of runs in behind, or joe cole off him, who moves well and creates space.

Seeing a couple of games live has really brought it home just how toothLess we are - blackpool must've looked at our last few games and thought 'well just keep our shape and they won't break us down' and they were almost right. For me our players aren't that bad, rather the team is set up in a very negative way.

Depressing to hear the holte end cheer a shot on target, though fair play to them for trying to liven things up in the second half. For the poster who didn't hear the lambert our chant, where were you? I was in the witton lane p3 and it got louder each time, by the third time it sounded like the majority and was it me or were there also boos at the end?

Bit gutted that that's it for me at villa park this season, but on the other hand I hadn't seen us win live since west ham when gabby scored, and last season just saw my teams lose and draw. So really 2015 has started off all right!

If its celebrations when we lose and misery when we win like Pat Murphy that you want but with a local flavour then try Radio WM!

Hard working local sports journalists exposing the evil schemes of Paul Lambert, week after week! He would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those damn kids! As a bonus just like Pat you can follow them record the glorious rise of the pride of the midlands West Brom!

I feel a bit punch drunk and fuzzy headed after 3 trips to villa park in a week . I have though come up with a positive .
We've been largely rubbish in all 3 games yet we are unbeaten and haven't conceded a solitary goal. Dull I know but it's surely something to build on.

Leicester will obviously be a sterner test .

When the Blackpool fans started singing 'Tangerines' I was just waiting for us to start chanting for Satsumas in response.
