Palace v Villa Pre-Match Thread
« on: November 30, 2014, 11:33:06 AM »
Some positives in the performance to take from Burnley to take into this one, together with Benteke coming back.

Cole may not be capable of playing another game so close, so if he doesn't start then we need to go like for like with Grealish coming in. The difference Cole made with the speed and inteligence of the balls he played or the movement of his runs left me scratching my head as where that had been for the past two and a bit seasons. It brought other players up a level too.

Benteke in for Gabby and Grealish in for Cole is all the changes I would make.

We will win this one. 1-3 Villa, with a Benteke brace.

Mods, a sticky and a poll if you please.

Any word on Clark? Or do we get Okore and Lowton at centre-back?

1-1. Villa to score just before HT and concede just before FT.

This game for me is the absolute measure of our season. Palace are a semi-established top flight side now with who are hard working and with some flair going forward. They're a better team than either Burnley or QPR and with more vocal support plus a nasty recent habit of beating Villa which all points towards a tough game. Having said that looking at their first XI against ours they don't have many players I would take, Mcarther maybe? So if we go into this game playing the right football and feeding Benteke anything other than scraps I think they are there for the taking.

They beat us twice last season. If anything I think we are worse this season. 2-0 Palace.

Palace are a (better) different proposition to Burnley.
They will have too much for us.

2-0 home win! Bolasie to have a field day.

Grealish for Cole

Benteke for gabby

Not overly keen on Weimann but I think he's got three goals two assists , so would probably bring gabby on for 25 mins when people are tiring . Gabby always starts ok but he can't concentrate for a full game.

We need a point here . I'm going for 1 1.  But this is a much harder game than Burnley

I don't know what it is but if I'm not watching Villa and see, like yesterday, Whoever 0 Villa 1 (not often admittedly) and see Weimann has scored I immediately think we must be playing shit again. Not sure what it is and it's probably total unfair. If he scores at home I'm expecting it to be a game with goals that we have shown defensive frailties. Have we turned him into that or is that level as good as we're going to achieve as a team?
