I've dislocated my shoulder 3 times and it isn't great especially when you consider the physical stress it will get in midfield. Hasn't he had a shoulder problem before?

a dislocated shoulder ended my rugby career, so I can empathise as well.

Don't these injuries tend to repeat themselves also? Not sure if its because of the higher level of impact and intensity at the top of the game.

I dislocated my knee when I was about 16 and it recurred loads and have had to have an operation in my thirties. Not sure how a shoulder dislocation compares but with the knee it tears some ligaments and stretches others which make it looser and more likely to happen again.

Gutted as I've been looking forward to seeing Delph against some weaker opposition.

Shoulder is similar , once you've popped it out it's more prone to go again although I'm sure medical treatment is better than it was say 30 years ago.

Then again back in the day I'm sure players had shoulders popped back in on the touch line and then played on. When men were men.

A mate of mine dislocated his knee while we were playing football about 12 years ago. I've never seen someone in more pain than he was that day. I still wince just thinking about it. He's never kicked a ball since.

My mate did the same a about 20 years ago playing football, then a few years back slipped in a nightclub and did the same knee again, never seen someone in so much pain.

Didn't Curtis Davies suffer the same injury? I know he's a regular for Hull now but I seem to remember he kept having to have surgery on his shoulder.

Like the guy earlier said about doing his shoulder playing rugby, one of my teammates dislocated his shoulder playing a couple of years ago and he looked like he was going to pass out from the pain, we had to stop the game because any sort of movement whatsoever was making it worse for him.  Hes just come back after 2 years out.

Then again, in the Rugby world cup a few years ago a Georgian dude dislocated his shoulder and popped it back in right away, so either they can vary in severity or Georgians are the hardest people on the planet.

It depends if he has damaged the muscles and tendons that usually hold the shoulder in place. Sometimes they can be a pig to repair.

When I did mine (aikido) the physio told me the shoulder was the most complicated and least stable joint in the body - great
