I remember being at Ewood Park for a cup game back in the eighties.  I think we drew 1-1 and won the replay.  The match was memorable due to the fact some lunatic managed to scale up the support columns and hang off the rafters.  The surprise wasn't that he got up there but, how the daft bugger got down.  The last I remember was seeing him dangling there, what happened after that is anyone's guess.

Awaits post saying that was me.

The ground at that point was an absolute relic. It was amazing it was actually open, it was by far and away the shittiest shithole I'd been to till then.

Filbert Street - I am sure under MON they turned us there a couple of times, but the worst when Heskey tumbled about to get Soutgate sent off and we lost 3-0.

FA Cup January 1990. Scott Sellers and Simon Barker for them, Ormandroyd and somebody else for us and then won the replay with a Daley inspired performance 4-2 I think.

And no, it wasn't me.

I think Dave Shelley may be talking about the March 1980 game when we drew 1-1 away (they scored a last minute equaliser) and won the replay a few days later (1-0 I think). I definitely remember a bloke climbing the rafters just before kick off as there was a really raucous away support that afternoon and chants of Tarzan to him.

Next round was the QF v W Ham away......

I was at the Ewood Park cup game. It was during our great spell around the turn of the year '89/'90. I think we won the replay 3-1 and I seem to remember the ex nose Kennedy scoring for them. My first visit to Ewood was in our promotion season. Platt scored on his debut and I think it was Steve Archibald who got their late winner in a 3-2. I also remember being there when Sid was in their side and they hammered one of the nails in our coffin towards the end of our attempt to win the first Premier League title.

See the last H+V. Been to Ewood loads but it holds bad memories for semifinalgate.

That's the one Pat.  It had to be then because I left Brum in 1986.  I drove a minibus full of us down to London for that WHU game and, remember it for the hostile atmosphere and the way we lost in the last minute.  I also remember seeing a foul throw awarded against Ivor Linton in that game, the first time I'd ever seen a foul throw given at that level in all the years I'd been watching football.

Ayresome Park was a big bogey ground for us back in the day.

Seconded.

Selhurst Park. V Palace & Charlton & Wimbledon. Struggling to remember any wins. BFR and Brian Little both lost heir jobs abruptly after defeats there.

The four one cup defeat to Palace was a shocker.  It really says something when you stuggle against two teams on the same ground...
Anyway, if we can't end that record this season, then maybe we never will.

Selhurst Park is the worst one, we never bloody win there and it's a craphole as well.

Didn't seem to have a great record at Craven Cottage either, even missing 2 penalties and conceding a last minute equaliser one year.

Wigan and Middlesbrough are 2 teams that we were better away against, than at home.

We seem to always win at Molineux too.

Seconded.

The only time I can recall Villa winning at Ayrsome Park was in 1992, Dean Saunders 2nd game for the Villa, we won 3-2 and he scored twice. Think Dalian got the other and Paul McGrath scored an OG for them.

We also won there in the Cup in 93-94 I think.  2-1 or 2-0?

1987-88  1-0 in the league cup.

My bad I was thinking Ayrsome Park was Sunderland's old ground.

I don't know about that - Ayresome Park was always lucky for us. Well, you were lucky to get home in one piece.

Especially on Valentine's Day (I think) 1988.
