We've lost to Bradford, Millwall, and Sheff Utd in cup competitions under this clown of a manager. I'm not that confident.

I am. We lost to Luton, lower league West Ham, and Cambridge in consecutive seasons under Ron Saunders as an example. Shit happens in cups. On a fairly regular basis to us regardless of manager.

We lost 5-0 at home to Bradford in the Simod cup under Sir Graham. Is he a clown too? Not saying what happened under Lambert should be excused, but PWS points out, shit happens. Look at tonight for Man U, yet similar stuff happened to Ferguson.

Nothing would surprise me, but I'll go with an optimistic 3-1. Cole to score.

I'd love for Grealish to run riot and give the manager lots to think about for Sunday.

Yes, but in that season, SGT got us promoted, and the only reason we're laughing at Man United is because they have such a long record of success.

I take your point that shit happens, but Lambert would have a much more defensible record in that sense if he had success elsewhere to point at, which he doesn't.

As I said not excusing what has happened under Lambert but the point remains, it happens to all teams irrespective of size and stature. In fact you could make the argument that it would be worse if we were better because the shock is that much greater.

I think last nights results will have persuaded Lambert (if he wasn't already) to play a strong side. It sounds like Vlaar and Cissokho are both carrying knocks though, so I think he'll go as follows;

Given; Hutton, Senderos, Baker, Richardson; Sanchez, Delph (C); Bacuna, Cole, Grealish; Bent
Subs: Guzan, Okore, Clark, Westwood, N'Zogbia, Weimann, Agbonlahor

I think the Gods are angry with all things claret and blue, both Westham and Burnley got knocked out by lower league opposition last night. Cue thunderbolt and lightening, very, very frightening!

Did we lose to Forest around 78/79 0-4 at a very early stage ?

We lost 4-2 away in 77/78 in the 4th round. We also lost 4-1 at Everton in the FAC 3rd round that season.

Am I right to think that we lost to Plymouth in one of the cups in the late 80's / early 90's?
