Aston Villa vs Leyton Orient Pre Match Thread
« on: August 24, 2014, 10:45:45 PM »
Undefeated in my last two of these, so here's hoping the streak continues ;)

I'm hoping to see 90 minutes from players like Gardner, Grealish, and Callum Robinson to show what they can do. Would be nice to get 90 minutes from Sanchez, Cole, Okore, and Bent.

Let's have a good cup run!

Yep, Given back in goal also. Don't think we should cut two deep into the current first team as a good win will do everyone good. Plus this has always been a winnable tournament so I'd rather not take too many risks with the dropping starters.

1-1 FT 2-1 AET

Given (I would play Guzan he's looking a bit rusty to me)
Stevens
Okore
Clark
Lowton
Grealish
Sanchez
KEA
N'Zogbia
Cole
Bent

We don't need or want any injuries, Hull is a more important game. No Vlaar, Senderos, Westy, Delph, Weimann, Hutton or Richardson for me.

A fairly routine 3-1 win in front of 17,127.

Can I just be really pedantic and say that a draw isn't an option for this tie so shouldn't be part of the poll. A comfortable win for us with Cole to score his first for us before going off injured, Grealish to finish things off in style

I quite like that team for this sort of outing.

I'd probably still go Guzan over Given though, just to make sure we don't have any repeats of the Bradford calamity.

Thanks. Is there no way for me to edit a poll after it's been posted? (sort of makes sense if not to stop people messing with results)

The only game against them that springs to mind is March 22 1975. It was my 29th birthday and we played them at Brisbane Rd. and lost 1-0.
It was in the days of only one sub being allowed, and they made a change at half time and their sub came out wearing the same number as one of their other players (no names on shirts in those days) I think it was number two.
I can remember Ron Saunders saying after the game that it confused our side, and I believe that there was some sort of inquiry but nothing came of it.
Anyway watch out Villa, they're a bunch of cheating bastards.
