Wasn't there a last day drama in the 90s?

94/95 - Four teams went down that year I think we needed a point on the last day to be sure we were away at Norwich, Palace lost at Newcastle and took the last spot.

Yes you're right. And tarnished by all the cheating and hypocrisy over the years. When you have dived as much as him only your own fans will want to wish you all the best. Don't be shocked if we and most other fans don't especially those he has cheated against.

Four teams went down - are you sure? Thought that was in Dr Jo's season.

I don't get all the vitriol over Gerrard. He was a genuine world class player and a one club man who has played in a period when Liverpool have been left behind by Man Utd and the money of Chelsea and Man City. He could have gone anywhere and got as many pots as he'd wanted.

He has also borne the pain of Hillsborough personally and with quiet dignity - the youngest victim being his cousin who was only 12 months older than him at the time.

Good luck to him.
Think world class is slightly over egging it.County class certainly.

Phew...

funny though that in every one of these relegation threatened seasons we haven't once been involved in the last day drama.

Actually, technically, mathematically we have.

Mcleish season? Wasn't it a 12 goal swing or something?

That's the one, and with him it was possible.

Yeah, he was a right charmer. And that's before we get to his cheating and diving. As Stan will remember.

It was definitely 1994/95 I thought at the time how typical it was of Villa to decide to struggle in a season when they sent four down.  We stayed up on 48 points, Palace went down on 45, Norwich on 43, Leicester 29 and Ipswich 27.

I don't think anyone objects to Liverpool honouring one of their players. Its just the media going bonkers over it, like anyone else should care, that is annoying.

He could have gone anywhere, if he'd been allowed to by certain people. Allegedly.

I think that was the last 22 team season.

I think four went down in 94/95 and I think it was only two in 90/91. The only last day drama I recall is 94/95. Although in 88/89 we were sweating on West Ham completing two fixtures without winning them both. They played Forest and Liverpool when everyone else bar Arsenal had finished their fixtures due to Hillsborough.
