it's going to really piss me off when Rooney becomes Englands all time leading scorer, the guy has disappeared on us in every tournament he's played in but he'll go down as are most productive striker of all time.
I'd say that there are a number of things that are worth getting worked up by before that reaches the top of the list.

Not all of Sir Booby Charlton's goals were in World Cup quarter finals either.

You're probably better picking fringe players who will be desperate to impress for a game like this. Some of the England regulars have rarely got out of walking pace but they know they'll still be picked for the next game.

And me. Best side he has scored a competitive goal against is probably Croatia. Sums him up really.

Uruguay I'd go with.

really piss me off was probably overly strong, I'll actually not be all that fussed as it'll be just another thing to dislike about modern football, however I still think Rooney's lack of performances at tournaments (1 goal in 788 world cup minutes) is just as significant to us failing to meet the hype as anything else, and more importantly he has always forced us to play a shape that doesn't really suit us.

I considered them but overall they were quite crap at the WC I thought.

Yay!

If nobody else is going to mark it, England have a third goal!
