Cant see us winning the game or performing anywhere near the standard required but we probably will still avoid the drop because there are 3 worse teams than us.
Villa 1-3 Hull.

Feeling I should be at the Hull game to help drive us over the finish line but change my mind every day, I was at the Mcleish Bolton game which was truly poisonous and I fear a similar result and atmosphere, but an even bigger reason not to attend is that I would be going with my eldest son and the last home league win we saw together was the first home game of the Mcleish season, I think we have been to 18 league games since that fixture without seeing Villa win, should we steer clear or get down there? Oh by the way 1-1

Keep well away.

Fair enough Lee

Nothing personal, we just need all the help we can get.

When you have been to that many games without seeing a win its soul destroying Lee and you start to think you are a Jinx which I know is a load of bollocks but you do think like that, fucked if I know what to do.

I've only been five times this season, and I've seen us win three. Given our record at home that makes me blessed, so I'm going Saturday as I'm needed, and for good measure I'm taking my four year old boy, who's only other visit saw us beat Malaga pre-season.

It can only up the percentage.

Fingers crossed we play to our potential and we may snatch a 0-0 draw.

I can't bring myself to think about Saturday properly just yet. I already have that horrible nervy feeling in my gut and it is only Monday.

Likewise. I was telling someone at work that I feel like I've got the dentist, a driving test and a job interview at the same time on Saturday. Feeling sick with nerves this long before a game is not a pleasant feeling.

I think our best hope is a Chelsea win and Fulham failing to win at Stoke. Then should the inevitable happen at VP it will no longer matter.

Well you are definately blessed, knowing you and your 4 year old little boy are going makes me think we may well win, my 24 year old bigger boy and I will keep pondering

If Fulham draw it's still in the mix. We need a Stoke win if we have lost too.

Being in the negative mindset that Lambert and his selections have forced me, I can't stop thinking that 6 games ago we needed 3 points to be safe and since then we've played Stoke and Fulham at home, Palace and Swansea away and picked up f**k all, so how the arseache are we gonna suddenly get 3 points against Hull?

The most positive I can be says we''ll scrape an agonisingly 1-0 scrappy scrap of a win so that I can go to Man City and Spuds without a change of pants.

UTV!

I likened the feeling about the weekends game to heading into a meeting to find out whether you are going to be made redundant or not.

It could work out alright but you fear the worst. And even though you really don't want to go in you know that you cannot avoid it.

A girl at work asked me a ridiculous question today as well 'if you're that nervous, why are you going? Can't you just switch your phone off and go for a walk or something?' Which of course makes perfect logical sense.

I couldn't answer her, obviously. Bloody women.

Ive tried that several times this season.

Each time I have - to a certain extent - failed. I've looked on here, checked the scores, done something to sate my curiosity.

The only time I've done it really properly was the Southampton match, where I managed to be out in London for the entire day, and didn't even check the scores till about 6.30.

So, see, if you do it properly, it definitely works.

Talking of Southampton, what a magical, magical result that was, one that will live in the memory for years.

The wife is too well trained by now to say such nonsense. She understands Villa are to be endured rather than enjoyed.

Done the going for a walk thing too, but with phone on. Something happens in the game and I get about 5 or 6 texts. People assume I'm there and send: "Get in!" "Come on u Villa boys!" etc. They never text me when we concede so I skip home full of jollity and optimism, only to find out we've conceded 2 late goals (Everton) and lost again!

I went to Southampton though paulie; fu**in' ace!

Every week before the last 6 games the Mrs has asked me who we're playing. Every time I tell her which side, whether it be Fulham, Palace, Swansea, whoever, she replies, "They're meant to be shit aren't they? You should win shouldn't you?"

My response is always a deflated sigh, followed by, "Yes...yes we should."

I feel like I'm starring in the moody, melancholic, dramatic French remake of Groundhog Day sometimes. It's in black and white and it won the Cesar award for best Sighing.

If anyone is going to and would want to get a result that sends Aston Villa towards the drop line it is Steve Bruce.

Villa 0-2 Hull
