Lose the thin blue stripe and make the Macron men claret and you could be onto something.

Quality?  Generally 100% polyster is 100% regardless of what brand trademark is put on it. That said, my favourite cycling top is one my missus picked up for under a tenner in Aldi...

Badge? I always wished that we wore the badge that was once atop the Trinity Road Stand even in the glory says of the round badge.

Very West Ham. Don't like the white Macron men either. Should be blue.

I don't get why people are so against trying a different template with regards to the colourway. Some of our greatest achievements were in alternatives to the classic claret body/blue sleeves combo we see 99% of the time now.

At least with Macron we have something that's ours & only ours.  It's individual, thought out & exclusive.  Not the case with some of the Nike efforts.

And ugly as fuck and prone to falling apart on the third wash.

i think that's the main objection.

Last season yes.

The only real variation from the claret shirt/blue sleeves template that I really really loved  was the Muller stripes top - although I wouldn't say I hated any of the others with the exception of the NTL FA Cup Final stripes top and the pinkish NTL Gregory top. But we are Aston Villa and we wear claret shirts with blue sleeves so hopefully Macron will be faithful to this once again, their last two kits have been v traditional/retro. Blue socks too please, hate it when we wear claret socks although the one year we wore black was interesting.

I think the colour of socks thing is generation linked. I have always preferred claret socks and blue shorts as that was the kit when I first started my Villa obsession in  the 60's. I also  like claret and blue shirts white shorts and white socks.

I always say I'd like something completely different, batshit even, and I also don't really care if it fails as I appreciate the attempt. I understand the traditionalists, but I'm just not one of them.

Most other teams don't mess with their basic template and it usually irritates me when we do.  You don't see Arsenal, Man Yoo or Liverpool venture into stripes or halves or whatever, you don't see Sunderland, Albion or Newcastle abandoning their stripes.  For me, claret body with blue sleeves is Villa.  Of the examples shown above, the FA Cup winning one was a change strip and a one off (which I would welcome back as a change strip any time), the 1982 one is only a slight deviation from the basic template, and I never liked the Muller one or the later stripey one and especially the all-purple/no-claret abomination under Gregory.    The only non-standard one I ever vaguely liked was the Tommy Docherty era one, which looked cool at the time.  As for variations, that's what change strips are for.   I always say if you want to support a team in stripes, adopt a second team or something.  Now if only someone could explain to Macron what claret actually looks like. And the right shade of blue for that matter.

Barcelona do it regularly and it works. It's a bit hard for Man U/Lpool as their kits are red but the former has dabbled, 2010 with the black V kit.

Bayern Munich are another one but they actually change colours not just templates. Dortmund are another.

I really want an updated version of the 57 kit tbh.

A 1982 Le Coq copy would do for me - H & A.

I would like to see something along those lines too. Its not impossible for the club to do something like that, considering our away kit this season.

The 57 badge I would love also and not altered either.

For me it's:
- home: shirt claret body with light blue sleeves, white shorts and light blue socks
- away: anything, try something new/different

Just leave the home shirt in claret & blue - it's part of being Aston Villa

Can't understand how so many people can like the old, famous, Muller shirt.
The dark red wasn't claret at all (assuming that claret is the current season, the 1982 and the 70's colour, correct me if I am wrong) and the blue was not the classic Villa light blue.
It was the shirt of another team.

It's an absolutely hideous shirt. Looks really cheap and amateurish. If we're gonna go retro there's plenty of great kits to look back on, and not this.
