What we really need is for Doctor X to give an interview to Mr Woodhall or Damon

or Jeremy Paxman.

I've tried to persuade our Beijing Bureau, who's called Debi, to show some interest. So far no joy.

Once you've done Dallas like Debi has, it is hard to muster much enthusiasm for Beijing.

I know of a girl called Debbie who married a guy call Dallas. Seriously.

Having watched interview from the great man Tony xia certainly great news and can now put at much ease. Seems very clued up shrewd and will be looking forward to his announcement of manager soon. I think villa are going places and hes clearly a private man like abromavich who has wealth and looking to reignite villa to glory . Great coverage by CNN and good for Tony to come out and speak. I think there was some naivety on his part on knowing how much a big deal this is and perhaps now can look forward to whsts to come. Let's forget the recent debacles in past UTV

Is footyskillz really Dr Xia, sounding us out over all this time? It would all make so much sense...

I can't remember anyone going through this level of scrutiny, that CCN interview was almost rude. Fair play to Xia for facing all of that when I'm not sure he has to. I'm not sure I would. Why are CNN interested in Villa btw?!

Agreed. I think he has come across very well. I also think he has had a baptism of fire with what it means to own the greatest football club in the world scrutiny wise. He now also has first hand experience of just how incompetent the current setup at Villa is given how they bungled the announcement.

Because we are big news. No matter what we've been told from various sources, we aren't a Stoke, Swansea, Southampton, QPR clown club. We are one of the originals, known world wide. People are interested in finding out what happens.

I've only just watched the CNN interview.

When I watch this, as with Tony's other interviews, I can't help admiring him for doing these interviews in English (in which he is more intelligible than Paul Lambert) and allowing himself to be asked questions which Randy Lerner would never have permitted to be asked of him in public.

Not that this is a reason to be suspicious of him (there are enough of those as it is without fishing around for more), but for someone who has a degree from Harvard, I'd have thought his English would have been better.

Just saying, like.

There's at least a 5-6 posts about that already, the conclusion was that his English is about the same as most Chinese exchange students.  I worked, for about a month as a temp, in the library at Birmingham Uni and I can back up all the comments about poor spoken English being common.

But he wasn't an exchange student there for a few months, surely he was a student at Harvard doing his degree?

It's no big deal, I was quite surprised, that's all.

Whilst I applaud the fact that Dr X has been refreshingly candid, it does bother me that he seems to be the sole face/voice of Recon, and there's no press liaison or translater to assist with the trickier questions.  It may simply be that Chinese corporate culture is so different to that of the west, but it does give a somewhat tinpot setup feel.
