According to Brum Mail  it will be Another 10 days ( hopefully max) before we and the good Doctor know whether his takeover will be approved.
So sometime late next week then ?, God, after all this time I hope they donīt say no.
To quote this oft quoted quote  from John Cleese “It's not the despair, I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand "..............Godzvilla!

10 days max makes sense, the Premier League should make their decision by 1st June. Then the Football League would no doubt follow the PL's lead and could rubber stamp it quite quickly after the 1st June, probably no later than next Friday.

I've only just watched the CNN interview.

When I watch this, as with Tony's other interviews, I can't help admiring him for doing these interviews in English (in which he is more intelligible than Paul Lambert) and allowing himself to be asked questions which Randy Lerner would never have permitted to be asked of him in public.

What we really need is for Doctor X to give an interview to Mr Woodhall or Damon

The CNN interview re-imagined in Damon's worst nightmare...

DG: What are your plans for the club?

Our Tone:  Both sides need to set aside the rhetoric and get around the negotiating table to stop this happening again.

DG: How will you do that?

Our Tone:  Both sides need to set aside the rhetoric and get around the negotiating table to stop this happening again.

DG: Are you expecting promotion straight away?

Our Tone:  Both sides need to set aside the rhetoric and get around the negotiating table to stop this happening again.

DG: What's the world's fastest fish?

Our Tone: Ooh ooh, I know this one! Shark.

This is starting to sound like a witch hunt now. Why has CNN got involved? Why is Mr Xia having to explain himself to all and sundry? I think there is a wider issue going on here. Every man and his dog are hoping he's a fraud and are drooling at the prospect of taking the piss out of us. For all we know he could be the "real deal" and all this public harassment could cause him to take his money elsewhere. It's time to lay off the guy and let relevant authorities do the job of scrutinising him away from the public eye,as is usually the case with every other takeover. All we can do is just sit tight and hope for the best. For the record I admire the way he has handled this whole situation and I'm impressed that he has held his own in a foreign tongue.

I've tried to persuade our Beijing Bureau, who's called Debi, to show some interest. So far no joy.

I should have thought it is patently obvious. Anybody taking over any business should be checked out with a fine tooth comb before money changes hands.

With Randy Lerner more so!

I assume that is Debi Edward you are talking about Damon? She is impressive in the TV work she does.

The above comments by Monty are accurate. Having worked in China and studied with Chinese colleagues in the UK I have been amazed at how people whose spoken English was very average could study complicated textbooks on business, strategy, economics etc. The answer was basically getting to competent conversational level in English and sheer hard work.

I had this today, I phoned a guy who I had been speaking to on email for months, a super smart PhD toting quant investment specialist from China. I could barely understand the chap, and accents usually are no problem for me.

His written English is better than mine.

Obviously. But why in such a public way? That's not the norm.

It is when its a slow news week. Still Jose is back now and we will be forgotten in an instance.

I've thrown my lot in with "Yep". With all this publicity, if this is an elaborate hoax he'd not only have to be a conman he'd have to be certifiably insane.

Once you've done Dallas like Debi has, it is hard to muster much enthusiasm for Beijing.

Maybe so but I've never seen such public scrutiny and interrogation of someone just because he has shown his interest in taking over a football club.

I liked his interview, yes his English was a bit difficult to follow, but his use of vocabulary was good, and he answered honestly.
He knows 600 mayors you know.
