Besides which, once his management team are in place, they will do the talking for him.

Cut and paste? I'd really rather not click on that rag.

I clicked so you don't have to.  A summary from the CNN interview I think.

Dr Tony Xia answered questions in his homeland about the future, his money and allegations over his businesses

Owner-in-waiting Tony Xia held a live Q&A with CNN International today as he discussed his future plans for Aston Villa .

The Chinese businessman spoke in his homeland about where he hopes to take the club in the future and addressed some of the questions that Villa fans want answered.

Read his replies below, and for the video in full, visit CNN International's Facebook page.

What are your plans for the club?

“First, we need to get the club back to where it belongs. Then we have to be realistic. Hopefully we can get back into the top six (in the Premier League) like the club was before and then we will have the chance to play in Europe again.”

How will you do that?

“What has now happened at the club was seven years or so in the making. We have to do something to make it positive again. The right management team will be the most important thing.”

Are you expecting promotion straight away?

“We aim to be promoted in one season. That’s the major task for next season. We hope we can do it."

Are you confident?

“For now, yes. Our first priority is to get the right manager in to do the job. We need the manager to be confident."

There have been allegations about your businesses and education at Harvard?

“It’s a miscommunication between languages. We do control even more than five public companies. I don’t care where they came from. What I have to say is wait until you get things done, that’s the most important thing."

Can you afford to buy the club?

“We have a deposit, more than £100m cash in an account in England.

Don’t worry about that. I’m a private person, I don’t want to be public (about things). I want to stay low profile so I can do the things I like. I will take my responsibility to make it right."

What is your net worth?

Didn’t want to answer

But you have the money to spend on the club?

“That’s no problem."

Has the government got any influence in the deal to buy Aston Villa?

“No, no way, I think people have too much imagination in that case. It’s just pure business for me and my people.”

Indeed, a good point.

I recall when the Abu Dhabi Arabs took over at Man City, they were lightly ridiculed throughout the media, not least when they tired to sign Kaka, who turned them down. I think we'll see something similar here even if Dr X turns out to be 100% genuine. Man City did have the satisfaction of ramming that ridicule down everybody's throats when they won the league, though, which I'm not so confident about.

The above comments by Monty are accurate. Having worked in China and studied with Chinese colleagues in the UK I have been amazed at how people whose spoken English was very average could study complicated textbooks on business, strategy, economics etc. The answer was basically getting to competent conversational level in English and sheer hard work.

They were also less distracted by the opposite sex and partying and had a capacity for studying that put us westerners to shame.

Not sure about the 'they' and 'us' on the study front (nor on its benefits - I can assure you from my experiences in music that the emphasis on joyless graft is, in the long-term, something of a guarantee of mediocrity), but it sounds like your experiences on the language front mirror my own on this side of the Eurasian landmass!

What we really need is for Doctor X to give an interview to Mr Woodhall or Damon

or Jeremy Paxman.

That conversation posted in the Birmingham Rag is actually the best of all of the articles written about him with quotes. Especially on the expectations for the coming season. Unfortunately in my head I see Gregg Evans asking the questions and his knob hair and it devalues things a touch*

* I know it wasn't him in this interview thankfully.

*RUI KANG PHARM <8037>  JOINT ANNOUNCEMENT (1) CLOSE AND RESULTS OF THE VOLUNTARY CONDITIONAL SECURITIES EXCHANGE OFFERS BY C
*RUI KANG PHARM <8037>  JOINT ANNOUNCEMENT
(1) CLOSE AND RESULTS OF THE VOLUNTARY CONDITIONAL SECURITIES EXCHANGE OFFERS BY CHINA WAH YAN
TO ACQUIRE ALL THE ISSUED SHARES IN THE CAPITAL OF RUI KANG (OTHER THAN THOSE ALREADY OWNED BY CHINA WAH YAN AND PARTIES ACTING IN CONCERT WITH IT) AND
TO CANCEL ALL OUTSTANDING SHARE OPTIONS OF RUI KANG; AND
(2) PUBLIC FLOAT OF RUI KANG

FULL STORY TO FOLLOW

Just flashed up on Bloomberg - no idea what it means though.

edit - China Wah buying the outstanding shares of Rui Kang for just under £10m (I think).

http://iis.aastocks.com/20160525/002522516-0.PDF

Rui Kang and Recon are different companies.
The confusion seems to come through translation. Reading through the Recon websites news/media sections and using Google translate, the Chinese name for Recon gets translated to United Rui Kang, and sometimes Joint Rui Kang.

They are similar, they are not the same.

They're equal, but different. It's obvious.

Indeed, a good point.

Cannot understand why this is not being put together.  I appreciate that Xia has still to be ratified by the PL/FL but this is just a formality and surely he could be saying that x will be CEO; y and z will be directors/advisors etc.

why announce anything until it is rubber stamped? And I imagine all of that is or has been discussed behind the scenes. That very soon after the deal is confirmed all of those chips will quickly fall into place, including the manager.

According to Brum Mail  it will be Another 10 days ( hopefully max) before we and the good Doctor know whether his takeover will be approved.
So sometime late next week then ?, God, after all this time I hope they don´t say no.
To quote this oft quoted quote  from John Cleese “It's not the despair, I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand "..............Godzvilla!
