It's okay. Noone dodgy will be allowed to take over due to the League's extremely vigorous Fit and Proper Person test.

I still reckon they will stay up, even if they don't I do not forgive our boards January surrender. Shameful.

It was shameful.  But the point remains that even with their big punt they are in an incredibly precious position.  If they don't beat Spurs they are down. If Sunderland beat Everton or Watford, they are down.  They may regret making their big gamble more than we regret not making ours.

Newcastle are down I reckon. Watford and Everton have nothing to play for so Sunderland will turn them both over.

I seriously hope that this Chinese consortium has nothing to do with Dalian Wanda as reported a few weeks back, the company I work for was involved in a major redevelopment project with them and by all accounts they're complete arseholes. Be careful what you wish for if these guys get hold of the club you'll be begging Randy to come back when they replace Villa Park with some sort of commercial development and stick us in a cheap soulless bowl by the airport.

I don't think there's much value in selling VP and setting up elsewhere. In real estate terms it can't have that much value. Venture capitalists don't generally buy football clubs as the risk is so unstable.

I don't know much about venture capitalism, but I'm instinctively wary of it. Are there any examples of sporting teams in general where it's preferable to go with VC over a single multi millionaire willing to give their money away?

I still maintain the easiest way for a group to make good money out of Villa is to make us successful. There is no great value I can see in asset stripping.

Football has been a business for some time and even more so now. TV has turned football into a multi £bn business but to continue it needs to reach new markets.

China is one of those new markets. Say what you like about Chinese but they are shrewd business people. They can be ruthless but they make decisions, not dither like Lerner. If it's going to be Chinese owners, they must be looking to Villa to springboard a return out of the Chinese market. The alternative is that it's part of a bigger development investment in the area. A bit like what the Man City owners are doing. A somebody else commented, there is a lot of Chinese money looking for something to invest in here.

Let's all hope that Sir Phillip Green isn't thinking of buying a football club for his wife.

I think the Chinese are the best we could hope for in terms of professionalism and funding. The days of Doug,Bob Lord and Dave Whelan have long gone.Football is a big money business in 21st century. Big money attracts the type of player we need to progress.

The biggest investment I can envisage would be if China/Chinese companies saw Villa as the 'cherry' in a wider investment in the Birmingham area.  The amount of money they invest in he blink of an eye could transform the city and Villa would be an obvious barometer of the success of that diversification.  However I suspect that there would have been louder noises in other industries if that was the case.

yeah, something like that.

Stop playing with my dreams. If someone came in and invested heavily in Aston/Birmingham plus the Villa in the same way as Man City's owners have in the area surrounding their ground, I'd relish that as much as any success the Villa might have. Well, nearly as much.

Although I would be delighted( and relieved ) to see us sold to a party that has  the Villa at heart and  sufficient financial clout to give us lift off , I share the some doubts raised by other posters on here, about the veracity of this particular story ( re Chinese Consortium) , doubts based  purely on the source.    It appears to be a fact that the Chinese are sincerely interested in us, but when I see ´Mirror,´Brum Mail´& ´Star´ quoted as the authority in question then I think we all have a right to be a tad dubious about them being imminent new owner´s.   The ´Meaning Evil´ , for example, is the bastard child of the ´Mirror´  , and no one takes the ´Star´seriously ( unless they happen to be a member of the EDL ) ......Godzvilla!
