If Lambert comes back and resigns or leaves by mutual consent then the takeover is probably well on the way.  I think Randy doesn't really want to sack him and will probably give him a get out by paying him off and telling him the new people don't want him and he can walk with his CV intact.

The alternative interpretation is that if he's 'let go' before a new owner it's because the process will be a long while and, whilst Lerner knows we need to make some signings, he know that the fans and the 'bidders' have no faith in Lambert to do that.  Both are reasonably plausible.  I know a lot of people are convinced he won't sack him as he's been supportive but he was supportive of McLeish and even let him make a signing for the 12/13 season, that didn't stop him sacking him when it was clear that there was no way it was going to work.

Could be, I don't remember him saying nice things about TSM after the season had ended though and he was gone within a couple of days wasn't he?  I think he genuinely likes Lambert and probably feels guilty about how he's managed him.

True re McLeish, but look at his comments re extraordinary loyalty to the club, how they've worked under his limitations, how they've done amazing jobs etc etc.

I honestly think, unless there is a takeover, Lerner will not sack either of them. In fact, if there's a takeover, it'd be the new owners anyway.

Well Doug reckons it would be nice if the new Villa owners were like the splendid young men at Manchester City.

Lads,

Heard the buyer is on his way over in the next few weeks which is promising.

Heard he wants a big marque signing to show rest league what we are all about.

Great news!

We'd better move quickly though... Grant Holt won't stay unsigned for long.

They could use his shirt....

I just cannot foresee any circumstances, other than an imminent sale, where Lerner would want to pay Lambert off.

Is there any truth that the non-playing staff have been told to reapply for their jobs? Does anyone here work for the club?

Is this the football support staff side?
Would be usual if it is...

If this drags on too long we're going to be in real trouble, I'm not sure anyone can effectively work in these circumstances.

Highly unlikely to be true. If there was a transfer of shares the identity of their employer would not be changing and if the takeover was by some other means then their employment would transfer automatically to the new company under TUPE. Any dismissal or change in terms because of the transfer would generally be unlawful.

If I were Lambert in the current scenario I would be demanding a new contract otherwise I'd walk.

Why stay around under the current situation which can only ruin his reputation further without some recompense, knowing that as soon as a buyer comes in he will be out and also knowing the last thing Randy would want to do is find a new manager right now.

At least if he has a longer contract he will get more compensation.

Pfizer seem to have money to burn. If they were to chuck a few billion of that money in the direction of the PM's favourite club it can surely only help to "oil the wheels" of their takeover of Astra Zeneca?

Given the main creditor is Randy's parent company, I doubt we would see an asset acquisition, as the main bulk of the sale will be paying Randy off rather than player contracts or the bricks and mortar.

Edit: Plus it’s not a sale which will result in an amalgamation with an existing entity. I’ve worked on those, taking something public into private (and vice-versa) and the pension harmonisation was a ball ache to say the least! It will be a share sale.
