According to God on TBAR, it is still 100% take over is on, but their leak of the news has upset the club who are now leaking BS to hide the ID of the actual buyer.

Ha!

An anti-climax in this case is any statement that suggests that we're continuing along the same path that we have for the last four eyes.

I agree which is what I meant by suggesting what would be the point of Randy, who says little to begin with, announcing that? I suppose coupled with Lambert staying on that would be the worst case scenario and the biggest anti-climax imaginable. I just don't see the need for an announcement if that is the case, which is why I think it will be something more than that.

Agreed.  However, even if that is the strategy, they aren't going to come out and say that in as many words.   As usual, somewhere between the two extremes will fall the actual statement.  In other words, I'm interested to see what happens, but certainly not giddy with excitement.

Two years ago when Lerner realised he needed to act at the end of the season he did so promptly and without fuss. He will do so again.

I would hope that if the club is being sold that behind the scenes that has already taken place or at the very least those conversations are at an advanced stage with interested parties.

Me too, but this is Randy Lerner we're talking about. His communication skills are non-existent. That whole statement was just more than a little bit weird - and looked very much like it hadn't gone through Doogan to me, it was so odd - and it's not really difficult to imagine Lerner actually just clouding matters and giving the impression there's some huge announcement when, actually, he just means "stop going on about the ownership of the club while we are trying to stay up".

I've a horrible feeling there's going to be the mother of all anti-climaxes here next week.

You're likely on the money.

In that case I think we should define what would represent climax and anti-climax.

Anything less than a kitten.

A new tattoo, the General returning, free scarves, new deep fat fryers or a domestic pet smaller than are all less than a kitten.

I'd immeadiately ask the almighty Admin why the club would bother with all this misinformation? I mean if a sale is complete why does it matter if it leaks now? Oh but Admin doesn't respond to the people does he.

I think the technical term for it is "Making Up Stuff As You Go Along."

I was going to ask what the latest on TBAR was on the takeover...I see....nothing !

Very disrespectful.

He owns the club and cannot be bothered to give up a day of his time to have the decency to come over and put things straight. I'm not asking for a speech given from the steps of the Holte end addressing us, I'm asking that senior employees be fronted with the news, if any, like a decent man. Front up and take some responsibility, don't hide in your Dr Evil reclusive mansion and fire off a letter to the media depart you coward.

This all has an air of us being an annoyance to him now, his tone he took during his little statement of a statement was snappy. So sell the club for whatever you can get for it, it wont be what you put in either, because you fucked it up, WE OWE YOU NOTHING.

He also owes you nothing. He bought the club, he owns the club, he can do what he likes with the club. Why should he care what you think? Do you honestly believe people buy football clubs to please the fans? People buy football clubs to say they own a football club in the same way peasants buy bigger TV's to outdo their fellow peasants.

But are you more of a peasant the larger you go, and what are the classifications?
37-40" slightly plebby, ranging up to 60" as utter vermin?

I think any scenario with Lambert in charge of the club won't be good for business, whether Randy is staying or selling. Any potential new owner, if that's what happens will I imagine want their own man in charge, especially given the failure of the incumbent.

It's going to take much more than a managerial change to turn the club around though. Ger Regan put it best when describing a managerial change as simply rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

I think Lerner knows that too to be honest. I said he realised he needed to act but I don't mean simply repeating the actions of two years ago.

I happen to think the policies of the past couple of years were very deliberate and we came a lot closer to the sun than anyone there ever imagined. I cannot believe that a man who has pumped into the club what Randy has chasing CL football actually wants to see the club continue along the same path as it has over the past 4 years. That his personal pride won't allow for that. He said he'd step aside if it wasn't working. The question is how big a step will it be?

As a glasses wearer I find this hugely offensive

If there was an imminent takeover, surely there would be some talk in the financial press by now. Perhaps he's going to stop with the spending retrenchment.

I don't think he would announce that to the world though as it would just compromise our negotiating position in terms of transfers.

Indeed.

Honestly, without significant financial changes, what is the point in sacking Lambert?
