Yeah this has the air of shambles about it.

This has an air of don't let anything slip to the press about it. I don't believe for one second that Randy has not told at the very least Faulkner about next week. If the article means Lambert doesn't know, that's entirely feasible. But he'll have informed members of the board and certainly his Chief Executive.

I salute your optimism TV, I really hope you're right with what you've been thinking in your last few posts.

Not buying it at all. Monday will be like a bad, bitter match thread in here.

Lerner could just update his Facebook status.
I bet Randy's the kind of guy who only updates his page once a year to share a mildly amusing meme. Every now and again he might like something from Buzzfeed or something too, like "50 signs you're failing as a soccerball club owner."

If it's anything like the failed relationship announcements that pop up on my timeline, he's likely to write some sort of passive-aggressive, don't ask/I can't believe nobody's asked open-ended status, such as 'Can't believe some people, there's no love for people who trust too much'.

This will be followed by a reply from Paul Faulkner which reads, 'Hope your okay hunni xX'.

If it isn't good news, it's going to be worse. The pain of one match fades pretty quickly, our future potentially going down the pan will be more of an acute and on-going pain.

I should be to old to worry what this, typical American has to say/do with the club, I was born less than a mile from. I thought Doug was a c***, this bloke though has no idea what he was getting his families money into, and now wants to cut and run (very American) so now we are up for grabs by anybody who thinks they too can make a quick buck out of a English football team.

We have our memories of our team, when it was THE TEAM.
I have absolutely no idea what you are on about.
I think you may have celebrated new ownership very heartily.

There is a load of anti American crap on your post that is quite frankly unacceptable. I do not accept or appease racists on this website as a fellow poster.

There could well be a load of crap associated with the record of the club this season, but there is only one American person, the owner; the rest are home-grown. There have been loads of mistakes and quite honestly I think we can keep this judgmental discussion to assessing football nous or not, rather than introducing any nationalistic shit.

Keeping everything crossed for Villa

Well said Louzie.

Agree there is no need to bring nationality or personal stuff into it, but to call it racism?  Really?

It will be fun. Nostradamus and his band of merry men will inform the masses why it's not happened yet, Lerner will get dogs, mass hand wringing will be rife and some will shrug, moan and watch the madness.

This is worse than transfer windows!

I work in mental health so pick my words with care but Mr Lerner is behaving like someone who is quite deeply depressesd and/or anxious. His increasing reclusivity, inability to take action while not making definitive concrete statements and use of emotive language (especially "loyalty" which is a very laden term) points to this. I hope he does not read these forums as it would destroy any confidence he has in an instant!

I think we may be reading too much into it.

I just think he wanted the announcement to coincide with Edward Lear's 202nd birthday.

I can't see anybody in their right mind volunteering bad news.  What would be the point?

Bad news for us would be carrying on as we are with little or no investment in the team, you wouldn't need to announce that in a statement.

Very disrespectful.

He owns the club and cannot be bothered to give up a day of his time to have the decency to come over and put things straight. I'm not asking for a speech given from the steps of the Holte end addressing us, I'm asking that senior employees be fronted with the news, if any, like a decent man. Front up and take some responsibility, don't hide in your Dr Evil reclusive mansion and fire off a letter to the media depart you coward.

This all has an air of us being an annoyance to him now, his tone he took during his little statement of a statement was snappy. So sell the club for whatever you can get for it, it wont be what you put in either, because you fucked it up, WE OWE YOU NOTHING.

He also owes you nothing. He bought the club, he owns the club, he can do what he likes with the club. Why should he care what you think? Do you honestly believe people buy football clubs to please the fans? People buy football clubs to say they own a football club in the same way peasants buy bigger TV's to outdo their fellow peasants.
