It's all very rumours in the playground at the moment. Cynicism and being sceptical are usually the right path with Villa. I just cannot see why anyone would want to spend 200 million on it. Then throw cash at the playing side. It's a get poor quick scheme.

But isn't that true of pretty much anyone that buys a sports team? The chance of a real return are pretty slim. I always got the impression that people who buy sports teams buy them more for prestige amongst their peer group than for any true business reason. Very smart people, who have made boatloads in other walks of life burn money on sports. If we were a Championship team Randy would be fucked. But the Premier League is a global brand and there will always be someone looking to make a name for themselves in owning a team. For me the issue will be if we end up with the anti-Randy. A guy a like Tan or Yeung would be terrible. I think Randy wants to sell to the right person which narrows down his options considerably.

A Tan or a Yeung would be awful, but really, how good would be a continuation of the Lerner of the last four years be?

Pretty awful.

The world is full of new billionaires that want a slice of our football.  Given our size and history, we are prime targets.  £100m + and Randy will cuts his losses.

I'm sorry where are all these billionaires lining up? If that were the case Everton and Newcastle would have been sold ages ago. I'm also doubting Lerner would sell for £100 million given how much he invested.

True, but that's assuming everything stays the same. Surely even he wouldn't want that. I just want the club in safe hands if he does sell. It's enough that on the pitch matters have been as dire as they have been. The last thing we need is the new owner to be a cock too.

I think it's hard to dispute the evidence that Lerner has withdrawn his interest to the absolute minimum.

I don't doubt that he doesn't want things to go on like this.

What I do doubt are his willingness and - even worse - ability to do anything to spare us a fifth year of this nonsense.

This is his club, his business, these are his people, and they have delivered us four years of utterly pathetic rubbish.

We are a dreadful mess, and it's a result of his stewardship. Nice bloke, but utterly out of his fucking depth, the sooner he moves on, the better.
