Ok, let's take out points total. What about: goals scored; home form; the style of play (subjective, but assessable); tangible ambition; coherence of squad after two years for the manager to get them playing in his image. Which of these has progressed?

That is somewhat different to getting less than 40 points, or less points than a manager that was sacked for a terrible season.

Has also just said that Gabby was excellent today.

Please God make Lambert disappear when the season ends.

Well if he has just said that about Gabby, then he is an even bigger fucking idiot than I thought he was already.

What do you think he should say. His two main strikers cant play again this season.

Do you think he should say he played crap?

Maybe in private but not to the media

Unless Lambert was asked directly about Gabby's performance, why mention him at all?

If it were the case, why cant he say something like ''its not happening for him at the moment'' or something along those lines, because it clearly isn't in both Agbonlahor's or Weimann's case.
Instead, he still trots out the same old bollox week in, week out, seeing things in games/players that leaves fans baffled to his opinions?

So if  a team wins the league with less points than they had the season before when they finished second, they haven't progressed.

Correct. The team that finished first got worse.

Gabby is finushed at the top level. No different to Owen or Fowler at similar ages.

His acceleration and speed stamina have dimished. He is a spent force.

Its all very "Lee Sharpe" - once his pace went and he piled on the pounds his game was well and truly over

Every week that goes by we just get more evidence that Lambert isn't even close to being good enough for us. Yet another game at Villa Park where we haven't scored, its totally inexcusable.

Gabby's looking a little rotund it must be said. I think a fair wedge of the muscle he put on back in Houlliers era might have turned to blubba. He needs to shed 7-14 pound by the look of him. If anything for a bit of acceleration and also stamina.

Oh and yes. Nothing about how clueless we looked changed remotely today. I think obviously the influence Culverhouse and Karsa were having was purely negative on morale. In terms of tactics, set up, and all the problems we've had this season under Lambo. Nothing changed on the pitch today. The only difference was maybe 10% more effort which we lack in the last couple of games, which was probably all the difference for us today getting 1 point instead of 0 (and a degree of fortune with the ref).

Lambert has to go though. He's got no idea. He's totally and utterly out of his depth and nothing will change.

Seeing VP bathed in sunlight looking majestic...it makes me sad to see the disorganised rabble we let play there on our behalf every fortnight.

This seems to be the conclusion to draw.

Well, it seems to be. Obviously a week isn't a very long time in which to build a new style, but all the stylistic and tactical weaknesses were there today as strongly as they've ever been.
