It's a definable target though. 40 points and staying up should be the absolute minimum for a club of our size. If there aren't any performance parameters in a contract then it's another thing that should be questioned about the board.

Has also just said that Gabby was excellent today.

Please God make Lambert disappear when the season ends.

Well if he has just said that about Gabby, then he is an even bigger fucking idiot than I thought he was already.

I would think in today's modern game the position you finish, at £1million a place, will be the performance parameter in a manager's contract.

I still think he will be gone if he doesnt beat TSM's points total.

Or even his own total last season. Really anything less than 40 points is a disaster. To show reasonable improvement we need to end  on 50 points or more. Mid table was the target this season, not just stopping up.
I'm sorry, I don't get this points total being a barometer of improvement. We could finish mid table with 40 points. That's improvement. We could also finish 16th with 40 points which will be seen as stagnation.

Either way it's less points than last season.

That would also play a part... I still think he'll be gone within 48 hours of the Spurs game.

Which is an irrelevance in regard to progression.

They will say that he has had a lot of things to deal with and has been unlucky with injuries.

He will get another season, not sure how this will play out with season ticket sales though.

What do you think he should say. His two main strikers cant play again this season.

Do you think he should say he played crap?

Maybe in private but not to the media

There's protecting your players; then there are the nonsensical statements about playing well and players having great games.

He could have said he can't fault the effort, but to single Gabby out as playing well is laughable!

He didn't have to say anything as he wasn't prompted about Gabby.

He could have just focused more on the point gained rather than insulting the fan's intelligence.

Gabby will be going home tonight happy in the fact that he didn't break sweat yet his manager thought he was excellent. Not a bit of wonder why his form is so poor when that type of performance is deemed acceptable.

I don't think so. We could finish higher because other teams have got worse. It doesn't mean we have got better.

Ambition? We can't even get the basics right.

Have you ever wondered how all these teams further down the leagues manage to play decent football whilst we look like we met in the Adventurers car park 30 minutes before kick off? Getting out of this cycle of under performance starts with finding a manager that actually knows his arse from his elbow. Asking our board to find that man is a whole other problem.

I don't think the man is capable of saying anything of any worth whatsoever - he is a mumbling, bumbling idiot

So if  a team wins the league with less points than they had the season before when they finished second, they haven't progressed.
