Well, 2 wins in 15 league games now. If we lose to Palace we must get rid. True, there have been injuries but we are still performing below capability. With everyone fit, and considering the standard of many teams in the PL now, on paper this team playing consistantly should be good enough for the top half and i'm not knee jerking re Bacuna and Grealish, ive always thought they should be playing;
4-4-2
Guzan
RB Hutton
LB Sissokho
CB Vlaar
CB Okore
RM Bacuna
CM Sanchez
CM Delph
LW Grealish
CF Benteke
CF Agbonlahor
Plenty of pace there and should be enough goals. A few decent players on the bench also, Senderos, Richardson, Westwood, Weimann, Kozak.
Only one reason i can think why this lot wouldn't do quite well...

Totally agree.  He's reached the point where he has actually assembled a decent side on paper, but I just can't see him having the imagination or the nous to take us forward.  There have been very strong cases for him to go at various times during his tenure at the club, but now would be a good time for all parties.  We could get someone in who could hopefully build on what we already have and make a couple of additions in the transfer window, whereas Lambert could leave with his reputation fairly intact in the wider football community and be able to get employment fairly easily.

Tend to agree with you on the "nous to take us forward".  With regards to assembling a decent squad, I would again agree but almost getting to the point of getting most of the key players back from injury, he is then faced with suspensions.

I just wish we could have a decent spell of the same best side getting on the pitch together.

Someone, probably Tom Cleverley again, has leaked some video of Lambert and Benteke having a tactical disagreement in the dressing room:

"Whatever you do, Christian, don't score. And tell the other lads not to score either."

I fucking hate it when our manager says that. He could at least explain in his press conferences beforehand - We could cheer the different other elements of the game then.

What a great square ball by Cleverley - Hurrah!

To me he could have been binned after Sheff Utd debacle which was loss number 3 to a lower league team.

He should have been binned in the summer.

Without a doubt, the summer was time to get rid.

I thought it was a definite at WHL.

So did the then-CEO.

That's a bit of a scoop if true.  Would that be one of the reasons why said ex-CEO isn't here any more?

I always though Faulkner got way more stick than he deserved. You can imagine his frustration as he sees the team drifting aimlessly, going to Randy to suggest a change and being told by the man sat rocking in the corner of a dark office that everything is fine and to get him more wood for the stove.

I'd like to share you sympathy. However, I won't.

Don't remember us ever scoring as few as 11 in 19 under him. It was grim, but at least he had a distinguishable system.

One goal at the Holte all season. 11 in 19 all games. Pathetic.
And does any one else find it incredibly patronizing the way he says "we are trying something new, the players like it and it seems to work." He means passing and ball retention which 90% of most sides in football do as a matter of course. He speaks like he's invented the wheel. We beat two poor sides in Leicester and Palace but nothing has changed as the last two games have proved. I honestly think Blackpool will beat us in the Cup. I honestly do.

I find what he says a little embarrassing . What the f#### does he actually get paid for . Its like he's just discovered football after being into cricket.

I find it a bit ridiculous just how much people pick over his comments. What managers say in interviews and what they say to the players are two different things.

Mourinho is an excellent example. Despite how good Chelsea are, he is the most disingenuous manager going. Wenger is similar. Martinez's teams have always been "excellent", Pardew has memory lapses. Its just a slight of hand and a bit of window dressing.

I defy anyone who thinks a manager on our budget of managers, budget for player wages and budget of actual fees could do better than Paul has done.

ILWT.

11 goals in 20 games.

Scored more than one goal in 2 out of 20 games.

Failure to score a single goal in 11 out of 20 games.

To suggest there is no manager we could employ, who could better those stats is an astonishing claim.

I like the Paulmeister and really want him to do well. But I don't believe for one second that there isn't a manager on the planet who couldn't be doing a better job of managing Aston Villa.
