And in his post-match interview with Lambert last night Pat Murphy was trying to make out that Benteke had gone down "too easily for a big man" for the penalty. What a tosser. That lunatic Lugano, a walking liability if ever there was one, looked like he was trying to wrench Benteke's head off!!

I didn't think Pat Murphy was interested in interviewing Lambert unless we lost. One of his openly hostile interviews earlier in the season was the most disrespectful towards the manager I have heard since SGT's England days.

His tone and attitude last night were out of order, he was clearly gutted Villa hadn't lost. Lambert was pretty much telling him as politely as possible to sod off by the end of it.

Derby game.  Cant work out if the skill/entertainment was awfully brilliant or brilliantly awful, but dagnabit I loved it.  Thanks lads for a great night of entertainment.  Topped off with a grumpy Pat Murphy who wanted us to lose.  Self centered twat

There was some Albion loser who sounded as though he had been mainlining Helium on WM this morning trying to claim some sort of moral victory, just for a change, because they had more possession and they scored more nice looking goals than we did.

That may well be Helium Lee who rings up and complains even if they've won and he never goes.

I really must check the football rule book to see if it has changed. I thought the team who score most goals won - obviously it has changed in the Kingdom of Smethwick alone.

Does that Bozo from 20 years ago still ring up whinging about 'where has all the money gone, Tom?'

Too exhausted to post last night.  Now that's how to win a local derby. Still ringing in my ears this morning: "We know what you are - obsessed with the Villa, we know what you are", "It's all gone quiet over there" and, best of all, "Always shit on a Tesco carrier bag". Great night

And not even small heath fans are as big a bunch of twats at thr Bitters. Sad bastards. Not a peep from them when they weren't winning, charging towards Villa fans when they did score. Complete and utter bunch of wankers.

After 35 years experience I have to disagree. The bitters are sad. Very sad. The noses are even sadder, the saddest in fact and more violent

It went off twice before the game tonight. Bad as I've seen at a Small Heath game for ages.

I have relatives who are Albion fans and said it was more than just pavement dancing outside the away end. The police having to baton people back.

There was also some trouble outside of the Old Contemptables in town before the game.

I didn't hear the Murphy interview, but during the game his reports on 5 live seem very well balanced and he sounded genuinely delighted when Villa scored.

The pundits on the radio thought the penalty was very soft (opposite to the tv who thought it was stone wall), so he probably had little alternative but to ask Lamberts thought on it.

Murphy is a decent journalist, but not afraid to criticise.  Sometimes I do think we're paranoid

.

I went past the OC's in the car at about 5 o clock and there was about 20 police outside at that time - was the trouble before or after that ?

He was better than he usually is last night but I think there must be two Pat Murphys because the one you describe is nothing like the tosser I hear on R5 trying to contain his glee when Villa lose and West Brom win. There's hope for me yet for a late entry into a media career if he's a decent journalist

"Those b astards just foooking hurt me time after time!"
"They build you up then surrender like boll ox less w ankers!"

"That's twice this season they've sent me to heaven and then straight away consigned me to hell".
"When they feel this pain then they may show some backbone".

At least in their despair they can come up with something better than 'They break yer heart Tom'.

My old lad hated the Albion with a passion too, mainly stemming from when they put the final nail in the coffin that relegated us in 1959 but, when it come to SHA he detested them.  I said before that we lived in Sheldon so we went to watch them when we couldn't afford to travel away with the Villa.

He always insisted we stand in amongst them when all the sillies stood on the Tilton and continually took the piss out of them calling them all the one-eyed bastards under the sun and not hiding his support for whoever the opposition was.  This continued throughout the game.  Now my old man was a non-violent person and was also a little bloke but, I swear to God he was prepared to take every single last one of them on, I'm convinced that was what he wanted.  The times I had to calm him down.

He never explained just why he hated them so much but believe me he hated them.

That resounds with me too.My Dad took me down to VP that day in 59 for the reserves game so we could keep up with match by watching the scoreboard and I remember the last few minutes when it all changed for us.I was 7 years old and had quite liked the Baggies till that day.Never again

I think mentally we have the edge on the Albion and more than likely, always will. You cannot live in our shadow all those years and have the huge inferiority complex they do and not let it effect you.

Well that has put an even bigger smile on my face. I can imagine the poor scrawny Stripey saying that.
Bloody loved it last night. After many dull moments at VP this season, we got a seasons worth of entertainment in 90 minutes and against that lot too.

Most of the Boggies on WM last night seemed convinced they were heading for the drop. I don't think that'll happen but only because there are at least three sides with poorer players in their squads.
