Enjoyable game, especially the first half. All action.

Second half we looked more solid. Vlaar was off kilter first half but rock solid second, which really made a difference for us. Bacuna looked better at right back than he did in the number 10 position (Despite his goal).

Benteke was unplayable. All game he gave their backline a torrid time. Won everything in the air. They couldn't handle him. Weimann was excellent. He ran himself into the ground and he's looked back to his best since the Arsenal game.

KEA, Westwood and Lowton all need replacing. They're just not good enough. Most of our problems stem from midfield. It's either not keeping the ball, and defensively offering little support to the backline. Buy good players and replace KEA and WW in the starting 11 and we'll look much better in retaining the ball and better defensively. No problems with Delphy. He's a good player in that box to box role and he looks more like scoring goals these days too.

Bertrand looked good again. I thought Holt played with a great deal of nous. He helped settle us a bit I feel. He won't pull up any trees here, but he'll help see out games and perhaps pick up the odd goal.

8 pts clear. Would have taken that when Gayle hit the net on Boxing Day. Fair play. Vlaar epitomises everything you want in a captain. Benteke should have had 4.

This.

It takes some doing to come back from 2-0 at home after 8 minutes. Especially as we all know how bad we've been. The lads could have gone into a shell but they didn't and every last players deserves credit tonight for putting in a shift. Naturally we don't want to start games from that position but tonight will build a lot of character in that dressing room. If we can bring in two players now with a bit of experience and guile then we will be so much better off for the balance of the season.

Well done Villa. Great comeback win

Thoroughly enjoyed that, very fun game indeed. Nerve-wracking and all that at the end, but that's two very good games in a row from Villa, and I'm happy about that.

Entertaining and winning sure beats mind-numbingly dull and losing.

I had to follow this on the phone as I was working late

Can someone briefly summarise how it went?

Broadly speaking, it was like this.

*start*
OMG!
OMFG! What the fuck is going on?
GET IN THERE!
How the fuck did he manage to score from there?
WHAT A GOAL! WHAT A FUCKING GOAL!
Oh, FFS, shit defending, FFS Villa
They're all over us.
Penalty!
SCORES!

There now occurred several heart attacks, the odd stroke and at least one full-on nervous breakdown

*ends*

I didn't really leave, it's just whenever I post on a match thread things suddenly go downhill so to trick the hoodoo I stated I was off. Worked a treat and well done Villa for getting 3 points but by christ do we make hard work of it.

Fabian Delph. An absolute superb display that's deserving of a call up to play for his country.

Top, top player.

I'd certainly suggest it is the friendliest Linux distro for most people, but am not sure it is ready for your average home user just yet.

Considering we are so shit scared of screwing the pooch at home, I think that will go a long way towards settling the nerves. Looks like the goal threat is back too,  but then our defence falls apart. It has to be down to midfield balance.

What a fantastic game, a couple of screamers, a couple of very lucky goals, a couple of goals from bad defending and an excellent penalty.  Weimann was fantastic tonight, man of the match for me, ran himself into the ground, took his goal well and linked brilliantly with Benteke who is back to his imperious, unplayable best.

I won't comment on the defenders though.
