Just looked at the top flight all time table and derby were 15th, forest 18th- both clubs were very successful in the 70s with derby champions twice and forest once -  derby one fa cup, forest 2 , and forest a few league cups plus of course their European days .

Forest are far bigger than Derby.

I wouldn't say far bigger , both similar size to me - not sure what their average gates are but I think derby owed their glory days to cloughie whereas forest owed their glory days to er cloughie.
The 2 European cups might sway it matey.

Does that make them bigger than arsenal, Chelsea and villa as well ;)
I was looking at the overall picture and not that much to choose between the two clubs for me , as I say on overall league position derby more successful and more league titles , similar crowds but forest more successful in Europe.

I wouldn't say one is far bigger than the other , but back on topic I would say villa are far bigger than the Albion.

Just been to the weigh in at the pub.

My questioning of the leniency of Dowd towards fouls in the Merseyside Derby compared to what might happen tomorrow night was deemed to be me "getting my excuses in early", we were were lucky when we won the European Cup and I really hate Sandwell apparently despite the fact that I will watch the game with many of their fans tomorrow. One said that he wouldn't hang about if they got beat, I said I would if we did.

If we were playing Small Heath I wouldn't sleep tonight.

I wouldn't sleep either. It would mean we had been relegated.

The Mirallas tackle was right up there with Gareth Barry's (against Hull I think) for one of the worst unpunished challenges this season.

Want to beat these tossers, had an immense dislike of them since that *anker ruined Alex Cropleys career. Will be interesting to see what team Lambert goes with, seems as if we have a few options

I was always under the impression that despite my early years watching football from 1977 onwards coinciding with Forest and Derby's fortunes being very different, Derby were bigger as it was more of a football area and also a one club city/town.

Apologies, slipped into 'banter' for a minute, just to clear a few things up, 1) I saw a post on Facebook with a link to this thread, checked it out, and was appalled at the Stan comments from a Baggie.
2) size of club is opinion but my opinion is Villa derby wolves WBA and forest, blues Walsall, based mainly on gates.
3) I didn't mean to come across as pissy, my bad.
4) it is a big game for us, because we have to listen to you lot lording it over us year in year out, so it'd be lovely to ruff n stuff ya.
5) a bit of banter never hurts so calm yer skin down ladies.
6) epic thread
