Do we sing about Olbiun when we don't play them? No we don't.
Do they sing about us when we don't play them? Yes they do.

When we finish above them do we have a tee-shirt printed? No we don't.
When they finish above us do they have a tee shirt printed? Yes they do.

If we win on Monday will we bring out a DVD to celebrate it and go on about it all season? No we won't
You know the rest....

Wolves are bigger, Stripeys have more history. Both are way ahead of Small Heath.

I have always looked on wolves as the 2nd biggest club in the midlands too, not sure who I would 3rd biggest - forest , derby, WBA?

Wolves were a big club, with nationwide appeal at one point in their heyday in the 1950's. They seem happy enough with their history, enough not to hate us for ours anyway.  I'm sure some of our lot who live out Tipton way might say different.

Under the right circumstances, they could be big again.  Not on a par with the Billy Wright era, but top 8 maybe. They probably could get gates close to 35-40,000 too, if they were doing reasonably well once the ground expansion is finally completed.  Not sure the Olbiyun have that sort of appeal.  B-lose definitely don't, struggling to get 20,000 at times in the top flight finally nailed that particular myth. As for Cov, you could give 30,000+ tickets away and still nae fucker would want to see them.

Can't help but feel that we may struggle to get anything out of tomorrow's game. It's largely dependent on who is available after injury but I just feel that WBA, like their fans, put more store in this game than perhaps we do.

Still, I'm usually wrong.

No idea what the result will be either - thought we were in for a pounding last year and ended up being disappointed with the draw

The atmosphere at villa park when we play them seems no different to when we play Everton, spurs etc. You can't say that when small Heath visit, that shows it's not that big for us.
Just been told a free ticket is coming my way for tomorrow so will do my damned best to enjoy it. In with their lot though which is never the same is it?

You seem a decent enough type, Liam (as does that Dixie chap) but, really?

"That really good striker, the one who scored 17 goals for you last season, was your top scorer and best player, do you want to borrow him again?"

"Nah, we've had a think about it, and we're going to sign Nicolas Anelka from FC Dim Sum instead."

Everton run a tighter wages policy than an iphone factory in China, so it takes something to be outbid by them.

Yes, really.

We have to be prudent and use our money wisely in order to survive and improve in this league. We can't throw money around like there's no tomorrow.

We were prepared to pay in the reigon of £5million to take him back for a season, Everton went and beat that offer. It's also worth remembering that Everton were boosted that night by the cash windfall they received for Fellani so whatever we bid, they would have likely matched and beaten - we had also spent money earlier in the night on Sessegnon (£5million),Anichebe (£3) - the rest are made up of add ons and the loan fee for Amalfitano - thus meaning we were stretching our resources.

We made the the right decision as much as I would have loved to have seen him back.

There comes a point when we have to move on from Lukaku and we're doing that this season. Everton really do not understand how difficult it will be for them next season to replace him.

Your quotes that you have given, I would imagine, out of humour, couldn't be any further from the truth.

i don't like these 'bigger club' debates as there so many variables but, from my experience, I think Forest have more support that the Wolves and have been more successful in most of our life times.

It's funny as I class Derby as the biggest club in the east midlands out of them Forest and Leicester!

In my lifetime, 1970 onwards, if we make it simple by calling the divisions 1,2,3 and 4 and the Leyland Daf thing the Football League (FL) Trophy -

Villa - 4 league cups, 1 first division, 1 third division, 1 european cup, 1 super cup, 1 inter-toto cup and half a charity shield.

Wolves - 2 league cups, 1 FL trophy, 2 second divisions, 1 second division play off, 1 third division, 1 fourth division.

Leicester - 2 league cups, 1 charity shield, 2 second divisions, 1 second division play off, 1 third division.

Forest - 2 european cups, 1 first division, 4 league cups, 1 charity shield, 2 full members cups, 1 second division.

Derby - 2 first division, 1 second division, 1 second division play off, 1 charity shield.

Blues - 1 league cup, 2 FL trophies, 1 third division, 1 second division play off.

Coventry - 1 FA cup.

Walsall -  1 third division, 1 third division play off.

Albion - 1 second division, 1 third division play off.

Forest are far bigger than Derby.

I wouldn't say far bigger , both similar size to me - not sure what their average gates are but I think derby owed their glory days to cloughie whereas forest owed their glory days to er cloughie.
