The station does need to be renamed Wolves FM though.

WM = Wolves Media

The station does need to be renamed Wolves FM though.  They aren't even trying to hide their wankathon over them these days.

I never used to mind the dingles, they got on Smethwick's nerves and that was good enough for me.  I don't even begrudge them success but their delusions of late have made me dislike them a lot.  From Champions League winners in three years, to a 60,000 toilet bowl in the centre of Chapel Ash Island, it gets more ludicrous by the week.

Tonight’s rule of thumb is Villa fans are jealous of Wolves and the way they play, the money they’ve got, blah blah.

Personally I couldn’t give a monkeys about Wolves. Never have done.

To be honest I am jealous of how Wolves play. Not to the point where I get upset or anything but it grieves me how little teams that are not in our League are able to play decent football.

Yeah, so am I.

And the amount of comments claiming we're not bothered about Wolves kind of smacks of 'thou doth protest too much'

I only started paying attention to Wolves when they started giving it the big I am, roughly this time last year.

Eyebrows raised; "Huh."

Well ok, then. But we've utterly dominated them for the 42 years prior to their promotion last season - and they still had a hiding off us as they went up.

But now they're the yardstick. They want to be the big club around here, so let's see how they cope with that. Over to you, Wolves. Stop talking about the Villa. Show us how mighty you are.

Since I started following Villa as a kid in the late seventies I have never cared about Wolves or Coventry and have pretty much treated games against them as I do any other game. I hate losing to Small Heath and Smethwick with a passion. The only time Wolves upset or bothered me was when I was eight and they signed Andy Gray. Maybe the fact I never listen to Radio WM helps.

Our obsession with wolves can be quantified:

Albion thread - 160 pages
Wolves thread - 13 pages

Wolves fan on WM last night said we're now light years behind them and will NEVER be on a par with them ever again! Jesus wept has any clubs supporters ever got so carried away with themselves en-masse? My cousin is a Man City fan and even when everyone in football knew that the Arabs were going to make them the dominant force in England he still didn't carried away to anything like the extent the Wolves fans have. We should take up the gauntlet being thrown down by them and come roaring back. It would be fantastic if we could fill Villa Park every week just to prove the point although we already do have much bigger crowds despite our current malaise.

We always have been and always will be the biggest club in the Midlands. And no other club in the West Midlands will ever be Champions Of Europe. That is why the rest all hate us. If I supported one of the West Midlands perennial also-rans I would probably hate Villa too.

The spanner in their big plan is that if they have a decent season, their manager will probably be off along with their better players.

Having Tatter in laws I think I am well placed to say that a lot of them have a somewhat slender grasp on reality.

I don't mind Wolves or their fans.  They've suffered a lot of shit years and maybe are overdue a bit of success, be it moderate or world domination.  I'd hazard a guess that the ones genuinely believing in the latter and spouting off about it are very much a minority.  In any case wouldn't it be good for the midlands to have two big successful clubs in the region, especially if neither of them are Clues or WBA?   It would give us something to compete against that the Blues have never managed to provide and probably never will.

I suppose it is a compliment really that whenever one of the clubs in the local area have a bit of success, we seem to be their first port of call to start gloating.  Can't really recall hearing too many Wolves fans talk about us on WM or anywhere else before last season.

I agree it would be great to have 2 clubs competing for top dog at the top of the premier league. God knows I'm sick to death of the Manchester domination. But the gloating from the dingles has become very annoying especially as we've never done it to them  during all the years of our local dominance. As David Bradley said in the 140 years of Aston Villa video " the lows just make the highs higher" I'm sure Wolves will be getting every gloating word rammed down their throats when we do get our chance.

What puzzles me is the reaction to promotion from some of the fans last season. Variously described as a "dream come true", "best day of my life", "unbelievable" etc etc. If said fans were under 10 years of age I could understand it, however they'd only been out of the top flight for six years. I didn't find it annoying, just really odd.
